Most amusing Goose Pole Dancing Story:
Army CBFFI on being escorted into Goose by OC1435 and seeing a young lady dancing on a pole "Good God where did you get that trollop from?", he asks.
"Sandhurst, Sir..." says OC1435 nonchalantly (she was a young Lt from the AGC!).
If looks could kill
Beags, I remember JJ - top geezer! Very funny.

Beags, I do believe that was a bite.....................
Why so vehement about the 'drinking dens'??????????? Were your WIWOP stories too boring for those present in the goose?
'Fag Charioteers' IMHO seem too be pretty good blokes, you can look a lot closer to 'quite near an aerodrome somewhere in england' to find those of other persuasions.......... apparently

Unfortunately, in my time (at Kelly's) the only females were white, woolly and four-legged. It's tough trying to get a merino to pole dance (anyway, not sure if pole dancing per se had been invented then). I'm glad to see that things have improved over the years, but I still wouldn't want to go back . BTW, what about the sanctimonious b*****ks from the Sun's "military adviser" in BEAgs's link? It's probably all gone down hill since he left the army. I dunno though, I remember quite a few hairy nights in the Wokkas bar (hmmm, or do I...?).

"Why so vehement about the 'drinking dens'???????????"
Because of the way they were being badly abused. Some were actually being set up in roof spaces and one at least caused a serious fire.
I did actually point out that if the pongoes stopped thinking that the OM bar was in Camberley and eased their daft dress rules somewhat, perhaps people would be more prepared to use the OM rather than various drinkers elsewhere in the DeathStar. But that fell on stony ground.

Looks like the Goose has a bit of a fan base. Mrs Doubtfire failed to kill it Slimer failed to kill it. The Goose is a legendary institiution apparently. Clearly I can barely remember any of my nights spent there, fewer of the nights spent in Castaways and none of them spent in the Lot. But where would we be without 6 weeks a year spent beating our livers to death down south and the 24 hr Betty Ford Clinic north of the runway.
Going to the Falklands has it's perks
1. the Goose
2. Not going anywhere near hot sandy places where the locals shoot at you.
QRA might be boring but it's nice and safe and you get a lot of ATPL work done.

Apparantly, the Goose has become a bit unfashionable since the 1435 guys have become only too aware of the requirement to self-police the place to prevent a reoccurance of the sort of 'ancient history' that has been alluded to in earlier posts. However, there is still a whiff of sour grapes on the subject, generally posted through ignorance and jealousy. Personally, have enjoyed many convival evenings with 1312, 78, RRS, RIC, Navy, ATC, Fighter Controllers, BBC, CNN, House Of Commons, SSVC, the list goes on, although the 'outrageous' parties ceased a long, long time ago. Recently had a few top nights in the Chard too over my last couple of dets down south.
I also take it that those who wish too see the place closed down also wish to see all the hundreds of name badges from 23 Sqn and 1435 Flight removed from the walls approaching our lounge. Funnily enough, I cannot see the name of the 'Chief Protagonist' on this thread adorning the wall. Maybe that means something. Also do the same people wish to see the paintings, (some of which have been there for over twenty years) covered over. Is your sense of tradition, history, and dare I say it, respect for those who can no longer comment coloured by events from so long ago?

the claw has indeed re-opened
Only it was definitely not 'The Claw' or anything like it when I was there last. Almost as good mind!!
Is this another one of your non-researched 'Statements Of Fact' again?
