Apparently ESS at not the most northerly airfield in Scotland are try to impose a ban on crewroom refreshment facilities (tea, coffee, toast etc.) Apparently they are loosing too much money as people are eating rations and bring food from home rather than eating from their feeder.
On the other hand it could be to do with the s**t they are attempting to pass off as food!!
If you’re loosing money – leave! and we can go back to the old RAF catering which was/is of a much higher standard.
Same money given to a profit making company and they expected the standard not to drop….. do me a favour.
Ps. Where’s our pay rise? Anyone fancy a strike like the MOD civil servants? …. Oh no wait a minute!

Project ATHENA
The child of PAYD - Proj ATHENA - will also do away with informal food and drink outlets, or insist that they are run on a commercial basis. Great - no secondary duties running the Tea Swindle...

We'll just rotate who we send out for the coffee and milk from the local shop every week then.

Maybe the total lack of consistency around the bazaars is confusing the issue/people (crewroom/feeder/mess?). I stupidly asked directions to the feeder at LOO (not been there in years) the other day - much laughing all round! I guess it is safer to assume that the white box full of 'goodies' is all one can expect during a full day away from base? God knows what you fast and furious types with tiny offices do - and who holds the controls as you try to choke to death on a D-shaped?

Private catering
I seem to remember NAAFI trying to ban our line crewroom catering on a secret Argosy base in Rutland in the '70's.
We countered with the argument that they could only prohibit our activities if they provided an equivalent service.
The opportunity to sell bacon butties (freshly made) etc. at 02:00 was not taken up!
