Any Contacts from RAF Aldergrove Anyone?

Trying to get there for a bit of work experience and familiarisation but its more or less impossible without a contact for ''security reasons.'' You can PM me if you have any info.

Thanks

Lost the numbers on my phone, so cant actually give you the number - but if you get the switchboard number; ask for the library (perhaps station learning centre or something along those lines). They would be able to point you in the right direction. There is (or was) someone on base who looked after work experience.

Alternatively, if you specifically want to work with one unit / area, a letter directed to them will work! PM me if u need anything more specific

I will preferably be looking to be in close proximity with the actual aircrew to get a feel for that type of work. Are you in the RAF or something to do with Aldergrove? Would you even know any names? PM with the info.

Greatly Appreciated

What a strange thread.

JAG, do you expect anyone on here, an open and public website, to just PM you the names or details of people serving at Aldergrove?

Why dont you just walk up to the main gate and ask. I'm sure the coppers will oblige.

Spacies advice above is not correct.

There are Security and Health & Safety issues when dealing with work experience at any unit and especially Aldergrove. Do not contact any Sqn direct, they cannot accept your request and at best will pass it on to those who can. Every RAF Stn has a Community Relations Officer who may be able to help but probably cannot.

My advice is the following:

RAF Careers Information Office. Visit them and state your request, they will have their fingers on this particular pulse more than anybody else here. People such as yourself are why they are there.

If you are an ATC Cadet, then Wing HQ at Aldergrove may be able to make some progress for you.

Finally it is highly unlikely that you will be offered an air experience flight regardless of your ambitions (even if you are a cadet). If this is your real objective, then do not bother. The service has many members from the Province, all of whome have overcome the problems that you face. Your entry here shows initiative, but I would be weary of letting anyone this side of the Queens shilling know that you frequent PPrune.

Get in touch with the Armed Forces Careers Office @ Palace Bks and ask for the RAF Careers Officer. He should be able to arrange work exp for you at Aldergrove.

Thanks Guys. I'll ring up and try my luck. The reason why I posted is because the other times when I tried through school it was a dead end no but they told me if you have any contacts from the base then they could arrange it for you.

Well, she been to RAF Aldergrove, right, because she was bunking off school because she was gonna go down to Belfast and get off with Luke Griffiths, only she never because he's been trying to grow a moustache but it just looks like p***s, so she got off with Luke Torbet instead, only don't tell Bethany that because she's fancied Luke Torbet ever since she flashed her fanny at him during Home Ec'.
