I will be leaving my dear buoy - over 2 years to my next option but the pension is in the bag. Interview soon, not with an airline, far to boring I'm afraid. Its not the flying that pushing me out, its the chronic lack of funding that means we are constantly asked to do more with less. If HMG want us to be International Rescue, they should fund us to do it properly.
I've done nearly 20 years too and as far as I can remember, that is what I was signed up to do. I will leave soon, before the slighly annoying aftertaste turns into something more bitter.

Please stop bickering..........
Fellow aviators,
This thread was started for serious debate - not for some isolated individuals to have a go at each.
Back to the debate.........Thank you

Champagne anyone...?
Well that killed it......
Serious debate indeed. This subject has been done to death. All the pilots would like lots of money stay in please. Simple. Even their airships know that. Its just a case of finding the money and then justifying it to the Treasury etc. "Serious debate" on Pprune ain't gonna change RAF Pay and Conditions so don't get excited if those of us with a slightly less serious grip on life "muck about in class".
Some pilots enjoy the "lifestyle", love the flying and couldn't give a toss about the money. Others with families etc and a general weariness of continued dets and overstretch want out into a more stable, family-friendly airline lifestyle. Having just signed on to PA without receiving a hefty wedge of cash, I fall into the former category. I also just like arguing with people and taking the p*ss.
Crack on kids
