Capped actuals
Has anyone out there actually experienced this yet? Surely it will detract from the leg you're flying so that you fill your paperwork in and get the receipts sorted.
If the drivers are detracted from the planning to ensure the i's are dotted and the t's are crossed where will it end? Will we end up flying after meal times only?
It's a short tail and fxxxing big dog.
See you down route.

Awaiting guidelines, but as far as i am aware, the individual is responsible for their receipts, and as an imprest holder you are not required to do any of that stuff over and above the standard hotel receipts you used to do. The difference is that if someone has not spent their entitlement, you have to collect any unspent dosh. Someone else will address the receipt issue I guess.
What was wrong with the old system though?
Now I might have to spend some of my own hard earned cash on enebriation.....

Nor in my line of business. Just send a monthly invoice with receipts and it's paid.
We have around 100 people in the company in Europe and elsewhere. Just 2 do admin - one of those is the finance director.
It's called trust.

So how long do you think it will be before people refuse to go on det because they "Can't afford it"?
As with any new rule the military bring in, it's just a matter of time beofre the groundcrew and aircrew alke work out new and cunning ways to 'frig' the system.

Dan W,
All is well. The company just pays the allowances and we spend them as we see fit. That could all change, of course. New boss is swinging his axe around but BALPA are not to be trifled with. There is a lot of dead wood that needs clearing out elsewhere in the company! 600 managers already turfed out - where do they hide them all?

Ex-vicar, sounds appealing - especially after a day off kicking my heels in the exciting city of Kaohsiung, but I couldn't afford it. No capped actuals in the Fragrant Harbour either!
PS Good night out last week. I was a bit unwell off the back of the ferry going home. The Fragrant Harbour is a little less so!

I didn't mean to imply that the card would'nt work, but that it may not be allowed to be used for that purpose under the existing regulations. Unless there has been a change that I haven't heard about:
Source: MOD Finance Instruction 05/04, 5th March 2004:
"The GPC cannot be used to pay for:
i. Petrol - when MMA is subsequently claimed.
ii. Any T&S for which an advance has been paid or a standing imprest is held.
iii. Any incidentals ........ .
The GPC can be used to pay for the following:
Service Personnel.
i. Receipted actual B&B or receipted actual DB&B elements of the hotel bill, where booking is made through CHBS. This may be subject to the Billback procedure in due course. Lunch and light refreshments cannot be purchased using the GPC as they are covered by specific allowances. (This last bit does not apply to Civilian Personnel)
ii. Up to £50 of the UK hotel bill when the booking is not made through CHBS. .......... .
iii. Receipted actual overseas B&B or receipted actual DB&B elements of the bill only where the booking is made through CHBS ..... (otherwise suject to a max of the appropriate ceiling for the area and spend on the GPC must not exceed this ceiling.)
Its true that none of this specifically addresses dinner not taken in the hotel where only B&B has been booked, so there is some scope for confusion. To be fair, I don't know the answer for sure - best to contact your GPC Manager for advice.

aye,
my GPC Manager specifically briefed we could buy food as long as we keep reciepts and dont go over the limits.
A guideline of half a bottle of wine
Most indian restaurants will give you a handwritten reciept -
so ......1 popadom and a case of cobra it is then

OK, but "food" could mean "food in your hotel". If lunch is off limits because it is covered by a specific allowance, the same argument would surely apply to dinner unless it is apecifically included in your accommodation booking. See my point? I'm not trying to be difficult just for the sake of it - really!
