Can't lift a fairy cake with a gale on the nose.
They're in Afghanistan for the same reason that they're in Iraq.. Despite the fact that they can't lift a small fairy cake, at night, with a 25kt wind, the Army big wigs cannot stand to see a "JHC supported op" without sending the Teeny Weenies in. I suppose if one of the Chinooks goes down with some chips on a mag plug, the Lynx could always bring a new plug out!!!

A lynx couldn't lift one pork pie, never mind enough to resupply the Chinny boys!
I hope you Andover defence force boys enjoy taking the Colonels and their packed lunches out to Helmund!

Ah, the barmy army have found their voices.
The only joint aspect in JHC is the cling-on AAC trying desperately to take their share of the plaudits for all the hard work that the SH, and to an extent, the Jungly fleets are involved in around the world.

Come on folks, give the AAC a break! Remember that the Army Air Corps main task was to find large Russian convoys of armoured vehicles then call in armed helicopters (Scout[with SS11 missiles], then laterly Lynx[with TOW]) to destroy said convoys.
Now that there is no real threat from the East the Army Air Corps have had to redefine their role. What this role is has yet to be understood. The Lynx is useless in any climate other than a European climate at sea level, the Gazelle is going to the knackers yard without being replaced and the Apache has yet to be tried and tested in an operational environment since waste-o-space got their sticky mitts on it.
So, come on, lets see what transpires in Afghanistan then we can all either praise the concept or pull it to shreds. All this backstabbing is an exercise in futility.

Latest I heard was Lnyx is no longer going but the Puma is, so from 1/2 people up to 3/4. No pork pies for the chinny crews but maybe some room for their egos!!
Cant slag the AAC chaps and girls off, they dont procure the kit they have. The only thing they can do is try and make the most of the kit they do have wherever they get sent.
I do however believe its time we did get rid of the less capable aircraft and an extra flying organisation when we should concentrate on one force with a proper budget and a descent capability.
