86 year old former Swordfish pilot seeks lift in Harrier
I have just read the article (in my January 2006 LOOP) about John Moffat, the former naval Swordfish pilot who is still flying a Piper Colt at the ripe old age of 86 (BIG RESPECT!).
According to the article, Mr Moffat's response to the question "What would you like to fly if you had the choice?" was "I'd love to have flown the Sea Harrier - to complete a vertical take-off".
If it wasn't for Mr Moffat and the service personnel of his generation things would probably have turned out very differently for all of us today.
If there are any Ppruner's out there with any influence over such things, wouldn't it be a wonderful gesture to arrange for Mr Moffat's wish to come true?
BS

Unfortunatelly he would probably not be able to pass the medical. Taking off vertically in a T10 is not done often either... A show round may be a great idea, especially with the changeover of 3 (F) Sqn at the end of March to bring 800 NAS up to Cottesmore.
