Airfield closures

The Defence Airfield Review Team is due to report somewhen this year. Does anyone know when (April?) and have any information they are willing/able to share.

A google search on the subject led me to a parliamentary site (sorry - not sufficiently skilled to give you the link) which had a Q&A session between CAS and some parliamentary commitee, on a wide range of subjects, including airfield closures. I think it was in October 2004. In his answers CAS implied that rather than a single announcement on airfield closures there would be a series over several years as a variety of cases were studied, e.g one of the first announcements would be the result of decisions on MRA4 basing. Does anyone know if this is still the case?

Why does it seem that every announcement reference military drawdowns these days only ever provides some of the answers, lets just draw out the stress/strain on peoples lives/marriages etc for as many years as possible!!

CAS's evidence to the Select Committee is here

The questions about airfields are here, starting with Q 128 and running on to the next page (for which, oddly enough, you just click on 'next' at the bottom of the screen. If you navigate around the Select Cttee site, you can get the evidence from CGS and CNS as well - bear in mind that CAS's transcript is uncorrected, and there are a couple of errors in there.

Edit - Actually, CAS's transcript is supposedly corrected : which doesn't quite explain why 'combat trained' comes out as 'combat raid' or why (how?) Watchkeeper offers a UVA capability...

The airships will just keep us all guessing, just like they did with the recent redundancies.
