Tornado Engine Fire at Abz

There is currently a Tornado parked on the main taxiway, just off the runway at Aberdeen, looks like an engine fire. Lots of black soot around the tail of the aircraft.

Yeah. Either that or it hasn't been washed for a long while.

After it stopped the crew hopped out and went round that way for a look. The fire crews sprayed some foam when they arrived also

According to the local news, "only the pilot and navigator were on board."

That's a stroke of luck

I'm sitting in my office looking at it right now, and the sootiness looks quite normal to me. Nothing warped, twisted or buckled. "No external signs" from where I sit.

The initial cockpit indications suggested that a fuselage fire (not nice) was underway. Not an engine fire as reported by the media. It should be departing ABZ tomorrow.

Well, not on the taxiway, FBC. But it's still on the ground at ABZ, near Bristow's ramp.
