Tornado Engine Fire at Abz

There is currently a Tornado parked on the main taxiway, just off the runway at Aberdeen, looks like an engine fire. Lots of black soot around the tail of the aircraft.

Thrust reverse

Tornado gets a horrible dirty fin from the thrust reverse is it sootier than normal?:8

FlyboyBen 24th Nov 2004 14:56

Yeah. Either that or it hasn't been washed for a long while.

After it stopped the crew hopped out and went round that way for a look. The fire crews sprayed some foam when they arrived also

According to the local news, "only the pilot and navigator were on board."

That's a stroke of luck ;)

Yea, the news this morning said that an "emergency warning" came on.

I'm sitting in my office looking at it right now, and the sootiness looks quite normal to me. Nothing warped, twisted or buckled. "No external signs" from where I sit.

Is the subject Tornadoo still there Flyboy?

Fat and bald and dopey :8

The initial cockpit indications suggested that a fuselage fire (not nice) was underway. Not an engine fire as reported by the media. It should be departing ABZ tomorrow.

Spacer; cold, thankfully ;)

Thanks! :ok:

Well, not on the taxiway, FBC. But it's still on the ground at ABZ, near Bristow's ramp.
