Plessey IPN Starter
Confused? You will be! I'm looking for any techy info (manuals, specs etc) on Plessey IPN starter's, type LTSA 150 Mk 12 to be specific.
I believe the Starter originated in a Lightning (hence the posting here, I have also posted a copy on the Techs/Engineer's Forum to save the mods moving it )
Reasons for wanting to know techy specs? Ask the boyfriend, he's hoping to use it as a power takeoff turbine in conjunction with a TRS 18 Microturbine (nicked from Faulknet Drone) and stick the lot in a Honda CBR 900 Fireblade.
All further communications will take place from a small island far away as I will be emigrating after this post, I wish no part in his madness.
Edited to add appropriate smilies

You're right to emigrate - I remember well the effect of the starters' fuel (AVPIN - aviation isopropyl nitrate) on the coke stove our young QRA pilot was attempting to relight!
Even in the Lightning the frequent whee - - phut was interrupted by the occasional fullblown starter fire and the asbestos glove was an essential piece of start crew kit.
Could be worth watching the Honda take-off and rotate!

Soddim - hmmm, asbestos gloves. Solved the birthday pressie problem!
Steamchicken - not sure there's going to be an awful lot left to photograph after the initial test run! Project Suicide is not looking to be complete for a while yet, but of course any pictures from cameras that survive the experience will be posted.
Edited again, this time for truly sh*te spelling

I think Catt is trying to say is that her nutter is just going to use the turbine part as the power source. He's not proposing to fill the tank next to his nuts full of Avpin and light the blue touchpaper.
However, I thinkthe project sounds exciting and this latest entry by Britain into the space race should be commended. I look forward to seeing the photos of the finished project/pieces.
PS. If it doesn't give him the adrenaline rush he's seeking, I might be able to get my hands on a surplus Skyflash missile rocket motor!

Ok, as much as I would love to have Mitzi's figure, alas it is not to be I am very new to biking, as far as I'm aware it's a case of 'tube you sit on goes wooooshh very fast' (or quite possibly woooshh BANG in this case).
Ya Zi - Have just run your post past the boyfriend and he says that yes indeed that is exactly what he is looking to use the starter for.
He's picked up the frame and engine thingy's of a long dead fireblade so he's about to embark on Project Suicide full scale.
This will be my last post from this particular remote Island as I'm not sure it's remote enough from ensuing explosions, I fare thee all well...

Catt,
Try looking at the Darwin Awards website, dedicated to those who remove themselves from the global gene pool in the most amusing/daft way...... we may have a contender for next year's competition.
