i can seeeeeee!

Just a quickie really.
Obviously people who wear glasses cannot fly fast jets and if you have laser eye surgery you are downgraded for a while. Once you are upgraded, are you then allowed to fly fast jets?
Just curious more than anything!

Eyesight

Fast jet pilots can wear glasses.

People with laser correction cannot (yet?) fly in the RN/AAC/RAF.

This has been done to death....search for further answers in the rest of this forum.

Strange thing about corrective laser surgery is that the medical bods down at Henlow have evaluated it and said there is no problem with one specific type of surgery....strange this has not been promulgated around as i found out whilst on det in the farr east last June chatting to the Doc heading up the team....

I don't think it's common knowledge yet but the RCDM (Royal Centre for Defence Medicine) hopes to offer laser eye surgery at Selly Oak Hospital for aircrew and SF personnel in the near future. Wg Cdr Rob Scott is the consultant.

I think that flying a fast jet at low level is probably very scary at the best of times. Therefore, it may be a slight advantage to not see how dangerous it actually is or you could have second thoughts. After all, Zaphod Beeblebrox didn't wear those sunglasses purely to make him look good, did he?
