This tread is so sad and devisive! There are some very good rotary pilots in all services, alot of average ones and some self opinionated crap ones, wether commissioned or not.
Just remember chaps; opinions are like belly buttons, we all have one and no of them hold much water.
Christopher Robin, hi chap, long time no see.

CR, I slagged you off in the past for being too aggressive with anyone who disagrees. I take it back... That last posting was nearly spot on!! I agree with what you say, you lot will make the apache work eventually. Just like Merlin will work properly..... eventually. Mind you, what is an ugly fend off???

I very rarely contribute these days but the Royal Marine post was top - banter like that is sorely missing from Pprune these days!! Having been through the earlier joint pilot's course at Barkston and Shawbury with both Crabs and Fishheads I certainly didn't see any snobbery and when I bump into some of them in various places around the world they and their peers are mostly down to earth, good blokes - as were the C130 crew who flew us back from the sandy place last year - all first name terms and very grown up!!
Christopher Robin - don't quite see what you're getting at. All I said was that particular chap was a thoroughly good egg. I'm sure that there are many more - but only the AAC at Wildenrath seemed to have the ability to use their a/c AND have a damn good time as well!
hey it was tuesday (feels like monday) morning - don't sweat it Beags.
jayteeto, thanks - I'm off slagging off the RAF for Lent.
...Errr hang on! I've just had me easter egg, so you know what that means...!
Time for a Song!
Imagine - by Christopher "Voice of an Angel" Robin
Imagine there's no heaven, it's easy if you try
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
flying up above
ooo - ooo - oo - o - oooo
Imagine in this country
There was no light blue
No one to bait and wind up
No sense of humour too
Imagine all the boredom
Just one flying Corps would bring
ooo - ooo - oo - o - oooo
You may say Im a dreamer,
but I'm not the only one,
I hope you'll never join us,
And the world won't live as one.

I have had the pleasure (?) of working with most of the branches metioned in this thread and I have enjoyed the experience along the way..as for whose better? Puma & Merlin crews, AAC Lynx & Chicken leg crews, RM Lynx crews, Shar boys, Gr7 blokes/ma'am or Tornado F.3 crews? BBMF?
Your all the same realy. It doesn't matter how many times you go up diddley up..your all gits!

hmmmmmmmm!
AAC pilots fly taxis (apart from the six Apaches with in service crews. Excellent pilot/pound ratio there - well done, 9/10!)
RAF ME pilots haul trash.
RAF chinny crews cannot fly in clouds - poor chaps. Although the chap in the sandstorm in Katie Price did a f**king oustanding job last feb/apr(?). Good work fella.
RAF Fast Jet jocks do mucho collatral (someone check my spelling, please) damage.
Navy pilots do rum, bum and baccy.

I S I T D,
Your comment is unduly harsh on the Navy.
The rum ration was stopped some years ago.
Smoking is discouraged these days.
So....please don't come down too hard on them. It hurts.

Shy,
Did you cover BUM in your last post or have I missed something ?
ABIW,
Since when did you worry about stirring things up. Get a grip man.
ISITD.
ABIW and I came in for a bit of criticism from the TWA on the BLUH thread for interfering. We thought it was jolly banter.Obviously your considered opinion would be welcome!!
BO,
I have met some fine Army pilots. It was a long time ago and they were operating Beavers. Would that be relevant to the current thread ?

Echo 5,
Er, well, I er... .....check the last line for hidden meanings.
I agree with the original title, Army pilots ARE great. In fact, I think the army probably make better ship's pilots than the navy.
But they never really got to grips with powered flight. They lost the plot when they were given more than one horsepower per man, I think that's why they went back to gliders in the next big shooting match.

Glad to see that the little RAF children are peeping up again.
Is the Air Force really that bitter about not having Apache?
1. First Apache Sqn has already CTT'd
2. Second Sqn will be done in about three months.
3. Once they're both done, they'll go to BATUS and operate as a Battlegroup, with an Air Corps RHQ, LUH Sqn, Recce Sqn and Inf Coy. This should take place at the end of the summer.
4. This is all being run by one LtCol. The Sqn's have Majors as OC's and Capts as Flt Comdrs. Why do the Air Force still insist on having Wing Comdrs as OC's? If this was an RAF cluster, there would be one Grp Capt, three Wing Comdrs and countless Sqn Ldrs. Farce. Jobs for boys.
5. In short, the program is running swimmingly. If you want to come see then go for a visit to Wallop.
As I think I've said before on similar threads, don't have an opinion about another a/c type or service, unless you've actually been to see what they do and how they're doing.
Ignorant people don't do their service any favours. Know you facts or you'll make an ar$e of yourself. Come and see before you pass judgement; you might be surprised.
I've don't have an opinion on Typhoon because I've never had the chance to talk to anyone involved in the project. Innocent question: when is the first Typhoon Sqn due in service?

brandnew,
Think you may have taken a wrong turning somewhere sonny. This thread I thought was about extolling the virtues of Army pilots (which is fine).
Have scrolled up and down but cannot see any reference to Apaches (apart from ISITD),Comanches,Cherokees or even Geronimo so WTF are you ranting on about ?
Not sure who your post was trageting but I think you will find that it is you who is making an arrse of yourself.
Regarding Typhoon. Go into Jeeves or such , type in Eurofighter ,and all will be revealed.

Hi again Brand new,
Nice to see you too, always there to rise to the bait...and so sensitive...
I don't think "the Air force" is bitter about not having Apache. After all, the army are great, you have already told us, here and on other threads!.
BTW, I'm not "RAF" and with hulking great grown up sons I'm sadly well past the stage of being a child.

The post was in reply to ABIW and ISITD's. They were spouting uninformed nonsense about Apache.
Do you not think that if someone puts incorrect informtion on PPRuNe then they should be enlightened?
Or is this, as mentioned elsewhere, an RAF only forum where nonsense is encouraged and "what some bloke said in the bar" is taken as Gospel?
If you want, this can become some sort of cyber - crewroom where those of you who can't be quick witted enough in real time banter have their say.
Would you prefer this to become a non army website or would you like to hear some of our points and answer some of our questions?
I've found out a lot of great stuff from here and had a few good laughs as well. However, there is always the constant presense of those who contribute nothing and patronise all as well as criticising everyone and everything they are not a part of. Why? I have tried as hard as I can to not be tribal - indeed I've praised the other two services where praise is due.
Am sorely tempted not to bother posting or logging on anymore. This place is in danger of becoming some sort of single service incestious joke where people can effectively lie and be allowed to continue doing so without any say from anyone else.
