Logbook Software needed

I need a good software logbook that is approved for use and which would be helpful in an Airline Job application situation.
Preferably with the ability to use conversion factors and distinguish between PART1 and PART61.51 PIC time.

Try this:

I haven't used it myself, but a friend does. He tells me you can format it to suit your own requirements.

Blimey mate.

And I thought I was being high tech learning how to use the hours and minute button on my Casio calculator.

P.S. It's the button with loads of commas on - does a great job!

The other day I happened to stumble across a copy of my end of tour report on an exchange tour with USAF 1972-1974. One of my recommendations was that the RAF should decimalise the recording of flying hours, as they did in the USAF. It would save much grief over monthly and annual log-book summaries. I surmise that Their Airships ignored this among many other useful suggestions!

FV, there was talk about 97 of switching to decimal times when the new RASDA system came in. Now there was an acronym to beat all acronyms.

Decimal hours

Incredible that RAF still on hours and minutes!!

I had status and opportunity to convert RAAF to decimal hours circa 1975.

Managed to get rid of incredibly stupid Port and Starboard at the same time.

Snagged a starboard engine once and then overheard a fitter asking his supervisor "Which engine is that?'

Also used to see fighter pilots going every which way when a "Break Port" was called.

Does anyone have, or know where to get, logbook software/program to match exactly the RAF logbook requirements/layout?

It shouldn't take you too long to run one up in Excel or similar. You could make separate sheets for each month and link them all to an automatic summary page. You should also be able to create an hours 'decimaliser'. I'll have a go just to make sure that I am not talking cr*p. I assume that the log book looks pretty much as it did 2 decades ago.

As I havent even started IOT quite yet, I haven't had the opportunity to see an RAF logbook, but if someone was to send me a scan of a page, or even a detailed description, I would love the challenge of writing logbook software to mirror it exactly. Can't imagine it would be too difficult.

If anyone has any "wishlist" features, let me know those too, HH:mm -> decimal converter already noted.

(EDIT: Did I mention I was bored to tears waiting for IOT to start )
