Scud:

Seeing as you ARE being picky.....NORTHUMBERLAND RUGBY UNION Founded in 1880 Northumberland Rugby Union is one of the 27 Constituent Bodies of the Rugby Football Union which serve as administrators of the game at local level, as such we organise and control many aspects of the game within the 'old' (pre-1974) boundaries of Northumberland.

My old club, Percy Park RFC, was founded in 1872, in North Shields, currently Tyne & Wear, about 125.5 miles away from Huddersfield, says The AA. In a northerly direction. There are only sheep and Sweaty Socks north of there! Oh - and some Fighter Controllers and SARbouys.

THAT is pretty northern, in my book.

Please, BEagle, the older boy started it!

Lunch Monitor,

I have been waiting all bloody weekend absolutely intrigued as to what you were trying to post. And now, just like the England rugby team, after many attempts you have succeeded. Well done. ( Just Kidding ).

Mr C.

Doesn't the Midlands start just south of Sunderland and the South at Watford Gap ?

Mr Hinecap

Picky schmicky. I was talking about Rugby League (founded as "The Northern Rugby Football Union") and your contention that it is not "a northern thing". To argue Rugby League is not a northern thing is like arguing Polo is not a southern thing.

You say "nurthen", I say "northun", let's call the whole thing off

Australia has an even smaller cabinet they could sell to English Cricket. I use to feel sorry for the English cricket team copping a flogging off us Aussies' all the time. However I got over that feeling a few Saturdays back Bring back Warnie!!!!

W19,
Not one to gloat, lets face it it's not something us Brit's get much practice at afterall , but having suffered that tw@t "Campo's" continual "pom bashing" for the duration of the world cup it's hardly surprising most here are on cloud 9

all spelling mistakes are "df" alcohol induced

Feeling just a tad mischievous tonight so went digging for this one as no one seems to be spouting about Englands' latest achievments.
Is it 10 losses out of the last 14 games or 11 losses out of the last 15....not sure I must admit. Can't remember who said it (could have been myself) but England were only as good as Wilkinsons boot.

Anyhow, this was such a good thread I thought it worth bringing to the top of the board again.

Regards to all lovers of proper Rugby.

prOOne,

Good morning to you.

" Remind me again, WHO are current Rugby World Champions, oh, that's right, it's;

ENGLAND "

Yes, I do seem to remember, the game won by virtue of a drop kick at the death by Mr Wilkinson. Still a win is a win as we are constantly reminded so no good raking up the past.

So, 2007 is a long time away and we still have the 2005 Six Nations on the go. Anyone like to hazzard a guess as to who will win the Wooden Spoon ? Wouldn't want to see England walk away empty handed, or would we !!

Regards to all,

E5

Not wanting to burst your bubble....but....why be the best team in the world the year after the world cup!!!! Unless you are a kiwi ,who do this every time, it seems pretty pointless to peak too soon. But then....i wonder how the magnificent Ireland would cope with a different team 2 years after a grand slam and 5 of their world class players out injured.Ok 3 losses doesnt look great....fill the lions with celts...let them them get hummiliated in NZ in the summer...come home deflated, lose form just in time to build for the most important year before 2007 in France...

Sir PeterHardingsLoveChild,,,

What is your daddy up to nowadays?
Is your mummy still with him?

Did you know that he was a very naughty boy when he was a Flt Cdr, Sqn Cdr, as well as when he was CO at Bruggen?

And not forgetting the tricks he was up to a couple of years before he crashed big time in Sunday press!!!!!

Shjustme,

Rather thought that this thread was a general piss take about Rugby. Don't know why you should single out SPHLC for some personal attention or is it some private joke ?

Regards to most,

E5

I think the England rugy team fancied a new challenge this year. Instead of trying to beat Scotland for 1st place they are now giving it their best shot at beating them for last. They may just do it, depending on how the Italians fare. Still there's always next year.

Lost by 1, 2 and 6 points with a new team that is not firing, I'm not about to top myself. Bit worried about about playing Italy though, they have a good track record in the 6 nations, particularly against Wales and Scotland. Nice to see that Irish doing well, although they could face Australia in the next veterans World Cup final. Both could benefit from Saga discounts to travel for that one.

" fill the lions with celts "

Not a bad idea that although there would have to be the token Englishman I suppose. There are probably a couple that would make the grade.

Rumour has it that O'Driscoll will be Captain. I wonder who he would have on the Lions squad if he had the choice ?
