Admin Burden
Told somebody that during the last 8 working days:
I had spent 12 Hours being lectured by RAF Reg.
4 Hours sorting out medical admin.
2 Hours ensuring admin, admin was in order (Pay book etc- been in for 25yrs+ and never, ever used one).
'They' thought I was an Admin Sec Off.
Nope.
I is NPA ( Non-Pilot Aircrew - I am showing affinity with our Non-Commisiond Aircrew chaps(Who, in their right mind would consider a job starting with the word non!!!!)).
Trying my best to go on det.
Why, oh why, has it all got so difficult.
When I was a lad, WE, were responsible for ensuring, we, as aircrew, were medically fit, jabbed up, had all we needed (Amex card and letter of auth) to go any where in the world.
Now it would appear others have that responsability and ensure, we, have to endure undue extras admin burden to prove it.
I have wasted valuable time - fighting the admin burden - when I should have been planning my mission.
Sorry if I sound bitter and twisted.................but I am.

I may be the last one left but.......
I still believe that the UK is a great place to live
The underlying reason why I joined was to serve
The government respected my commitment and would return my commitment by providing me with good medical care, pension etc

I have every sympathy with you. Having been an aircrew officer for 30 years I remember the days when I was thought grown up enough to sort my life out without being bombarded with dozens of incorrect 'overdue' chits from SAC Bloggs!
The medical centre here is renowned for its appalling admin and plagues us with reminders for things we've already done or didn't need to have in the first place.
The regiment seem to think I need reminding how to put up a tent every time I go on det (summer balls and bosses parties teach you that!) and that I don't know that it's hot in the desert!
I've done the mamby pamby EO course twice because I didn't have a certificate to prove that I done it the first time and my Flt Cdrs promotion depends on making sure we've all done it.
I have to wear a roadsweepers dayglo jacket to go anywhere near an aircraft and be wary of 'trip hazards' when using the toilet!
Oh ******............I've turned into my Dad!

Admin Sec O's

I am also NPA (of the same persuasion as yourself.)
My girlfriend is an Admin Sec O and, whilst she was undergoing training at RAF H(ELL)TON, part of her ASOC course was on how to make aircrew's life as miserable as possible (well not quite!)
BRAINWASHED!
During 'Office Sims', every possible awkward scenario that was thrown at them, by their instructors, involved 'aircrew' being arsey and rude. Consequently she, and all Admin O's that graduate, have become veritable 'aircrew haters.' This is because of the impression imposed upon them by these instructors which infects their minds, even before they have started their first tours in the RAF
!!! No wonder aircrew get such a hard time up at SHQ.
I am in the middle of trying to re-educate her that we (aircrew) are not all evil demons sent to haunt their Admin World.
"Yes dear, you do get arsey aircrew, but you also get arsey engineers, policemen, PTI's, Adminers etc. etc...."
TYPICAL!
She had her first major piece of 'unjustified grief' recently and guess what? Yep, it was aircrew!!! I've given up

As a professionaly qualified Administrator, I have lost count of the number of times that I have cringed at the behaviour of fellow Admin/Sec Officers and TG 17 clerks towards aircrew; however, as ex AA, I have also been hugely embarassed at the behavoiur of many aircrew who treat SHQ staff as neanderthals; who, for the most part are trying to do their job to the best of their ability. The interface between the two specialisations needs to be closer - I recall a station where support staff routinely were sent to shadow ME aircrew during the briefing/sortie/debriefing cyle in order to give the support staff a full appreciation of the job. The shadowing, it would be fair to say, was not reciprocated!
