They can . Check the demographics of each airline in the ME (specially the new joiners for the last 5 years )and this will tell you everything you need to know about the place.

Etihad mis management

With the new managemnt (been 1year plus) they really dont care about the employees. The new management guys from low cost is pushing Etihad towards that direction, it is no more a legacy airline. Apparently company dont follow the contract benefit of Annual leave ticket. Let's say as per the contract if someone is entitled for Business class ticket, it is meant to be given as it is part of the benefit company is offering. When you try to book there comes the surprise. Confirmed on Economy and Business subject to availability.
They are trying to take away some more benefits company used to offer, like buddy tickets count( understandable).
But how about cutting basic pay of cabin crew? Imagine Abudhabi is not a cheap place to live and Etihad hasn't increased their housing allowance for Pilots for the last 10 plus years and the TOP guy wants pilots to stay in some places inside to afford.

Lets talk about Rostering, this is for 320 guys. Seems that person also from Indigo or some low cost where in the name of optimization they give u day and night changeover.

WHY DO PEOPLE COME TO MIDDLE EAST?? EITHER FOR MONEY OR LIFESTYLE, IF YOU DONT GET BOTH (money compared to other airlines in the region), really have to think before u go. and more to consider like no PF and all.
Etihad is not a bad company but they dont match the region standards which make 90% employess unhappy.

It's easy. 3 generic questions of a few minutes each and you can re-record as many times as you want. 1 HR Q, 1 Tell me about a time, 1 Technical Q eg. What would you do if encountering windshear.

Takes 15mins all up.

Apparently Etihad has filled all their vacancies for the First Officer B787 for the "near future". But they are still offering positions for their 777 cargo fleet.

I had the interview last August for the 787 , they contacted me end of November offering cargo. I declined as I had flown cargo before and it’s separate to Etihad's passenger fleet.

HR at first came back advising I would be able to wait until anniversary of assessment in hold pool. Then came back and advised things were changing January and they would be in touch.

I got the impression they couldn’t get anyone to accept the 777 cargo.

Attending the assessment / medical I have waited almost 6 months soon. Then finding out the salary is less than others, they include housing allowance within the salary and they don’t offer a retirement fund / pension. It’s become less attractive.and actually better off staying with current airline mostly due to the retirement even when paying tax.

The assessment day had maybe 25 - 30 people when I went. Many from Brazil, Central / South America, India and Russia. Only 4 people passed day 1.

The new conditions are not attractive indeed in cargo as they are about to lose the Marriott to the cheaper Aloft hotel or accept 45k AED a year. Out of everything this is the biggest disappointment. And yes there is everything else... I am amazed that they still think they can afford to fail 80-90% of applicants (same with main fleet). Let's see how that turns out this year with growing unsatisfaction and the nearby competitors.

The question is where all these applicants coming from and what’s their experience.

Unsuccessful after Hirevue

Hello! I got done with my Hirevue back in November and got a good feedback however today my application showed unsuccessful, I did not even receive an email regarding it just happened to check it on the careers website. Also, the job posting I had applied for shows that they arent accepting more applications. Any idea why and what can be done?
Mind you my previous application was unsuccessful because of some change in their job posting and they themselves mailed me to reapply with the new job posting.
Please help me with next steps if possible

jm27 14th January 2026 07:30

If anyone can just help me with this please?

tasev 15th January 2026 08:49

Does anyone know if etihad provides free business class tickets for flight crews and their dependents ? Also is there a bidding system regarding roster?

This is very useful info thanks for sharing.

I'm joining in april and was wondering what the situation is for cargo pilots with family. So if you plan to live in abu dhabi its essentially 45k housing allowance P.A. Thats it. I'm assuming the hotel is not a family friendly solution
