Is it just me or has EK revised their recruitment requirements for DEC? Narrow-body captains can now apply with a TT of 7K hours with 3K PIC

Rudolf_123 16th March 2018 04:31

Can anyone elaborate what is covered by basic salary and what extra payments one can expect/ is entitled to? Does EK still pay for deadheading and standby but does not pay for sim (that's what i gathered from old forum discussions..)?

As far as I can see you need 1000hrs widebody Long Haul in last 3 years...that's on their website.

If unsuccessful on day 1, two years, day 2 six months or one year depends on the failed item.

1 month for a failed sim. Auto thrust and FDs now available to allow for those that can't do it by themselves. A video of the Sim event will be emailed, along with a list of common errors.
As someone said, the standard is almost still high.

Hourly pay and productivity pay is calculated based on scheduled block hours. Deadheading counts towards this but standby and your own simulator sessions do not. If however you are rostered to 'fill' a seat on a sim support duty, then that will accrue hourly pay.

The vast majority of deadheading is linked to freighter trips on the 777. If you are not freighter qualified or on the 380, then expect to deadhead once in a blue moon.

Im waiting this 6 months too.. I failed at the psychometric test.
It’s too sad, cause you passed in 90% of the whole process, them the computer said NO, NOT TODAY. :/

Some people just squeak through; some don’t. C’est la vie.

your own simulator sessions do not
Your simulator sessions do attract flight pay now, but don't count to productivity. Have done for 2 years now

I heard it’s 24 months, immaterial of what you fail at.

That’s crazy... as such the productivity and flying pay is too less.

felixthecat 18th March 2018 09:10

Flying pay is fine, its the salary that is too small. Flying pay does not count towards Provident Fund, and as such its a common trick to increase that and not the salary. As for productivity pay, you are right it is too small.

How long after the assessments did people wait before getting a job offer? Anyone completed all assessment successfully but never had an offer?

And when you came back to DXB, you need to do again all the tests? Simulator, interview, compass, group exercise?

SOPS 18th March 2018 14:18

Yes, you do it all again.

Interesting... is it 1:1, i.e. one sim hour = one BH worth of flight pay? does it matter if it's upgrade / conversion training or recurring training (license renewal..)?

thatwasclose 18th March 2018 18:31

Not anymore .... if you have only failed the sim now you can continue through the rest of the process. If all else is passed you can comeback within a year and only have to do the sim

donpizmeov 18th March 2018 19:26

You come back in a month and do the sim. That would be the same sim profile as before. Now with flight directors and autothrust.
