World record
1,5 year and counting. CEO number 3 gone, COO in the driving seat, no Head of Flight Operations and no Head of Training (according to web site. Or may be they do not want to be seen in public?) And this airline is still not doing what it set out to do, flying scheduled flights to India and some other places. Embarrasing
I am not one for betting, but how about they are not operating any scheduled flights when we write 2008 ;) khfan8, Who said they are making money in Turkey? |
cutting everything, by the looks of it.
khfan8: what has happened to the "scheduled" services, promised.

RAK airways was born but it's taking time to start crawling let alone walking (flying?). I know they started flying but away from where they always planned to do it.
There has to be something else called know-how not just money if money isn't the problem. They also have to believe in the project and have the attitude to go forward. |
it's also about giving breathing space
for the new new new CEO to get the 737-800's on line......(khfan8)
The Turkey gig is paying dividends, as the crew retraining is being actioned at minimum cost. The doctor (cat) is away, so the mice can play.... (da do ron ron) windy |
Dr.Potty
Anyone care to take wagers that you'll be more likely to sit on one his toilets before you sit on one of his airline seats..
:p |
Well, mabrouk! It's finally airborne. Things don't just happen overnight for the new COO. There aren't many aircraft around or if there are they are costly. It's Summer season. Everyone is fully booked until September/October.
As someone else said. The acft is flying in slighly cooler weather, crews are getting tested and acquainted and making some money hopefully. |
About RAK
To all of you,
It took Virgin one year to set up its North America arm, so why every one surprised about the fact that RAK is not flying after 1.5 year Just give the new COO some time, a close friend of his once told me “He is like a Phoenix… Rises from his ashes”. I am sure that RAK will rise up soon……………………..Time will tell. khfan8 :ok: |
Move on....
Good on you guys for still seriously discussing this lot as if they're a proper airline. It's actually the fourth CEO at the helm (MH, JR, KT before Capt. Khaled, who is referred to as COO in fact not CEO). The B757 was leased out, presumably on the basis you can't run an airline with one aircraft. It's being flown round Turkey based in Northern Cyprus. Flown as often as possible that is, given most of the crew are still not fully qualified. Bit of a difference from creating 'fourth national carrier of the UAE'. The rumours of 747s are because a proper airline operator has proposed to fly its 747s through RAK in a joint venture. Anyway, my previous advice still holds, don't hold your breath waiting for this lot to get off the ground as a scheduled operator. I agree with the previous commentator, go back to making sanitaryware as you sure as s*&t can't run an airline......
Shinjuku Hustler - I hear you were spied back in RAK recently - hope all is well in the Kingdom. |
LTBA
Saw yesterday aircraft in Istanbul on the gate painted in Atlas Jet coulours.

Riakar...
Yes I took an old wander down that way to pay a visit and have a few cold ones with the guys. Dr potty firmly in control at the time. Things good in the kingdom, frequent sanity trips to BAH help with the aformentioned cold ones. I'll be back in RAK Sept for a visit.. Sayonara.. |
Iran lease rejected
Am I correct in thinking that Dr P, rejected a 3m$ lease to Iran in favour of the 1m$ in Turkey.
Surprising as many development in RAK, are financed by Iranian funds. Turkey...............no comment..................................................ssa |

Doubting Mustafa's
As a member of the RAK airways staff, i can assure you, without divulging any confidential information, that things are moving. Our new COO is literally working like a demon to make things happen. We would be the first to admit that we have committed a series of blunders since we first began. But I think you guys should focus on the positive; of the 3 CEO's that have left, why keep something that doesn't produce results? This time though we have the right man for the job and he is aided by the HR Manager who is efficient and a real go-getter. They make a great team in and out of the office and everyone here wishes them the best for the future. We will be seeing RAK fly high, I'll drink to it. Make it happen! we're rooting for you.
|
Wrong aircraft, wrong Emirate, wrong business plan, but good luck guys, at least you give the rest of the aviation world in the region something to smile about.
|
Personally, I hope that the RAK guys make it. They have worked so hard and they deserve some decent management to get them to the other side.
I hope that the new guy they talk about here is the 'right' man for the job because the ones before were obviously not..one of the previous ones in particular was just an idiot of the highest calibre ( WE ALL KNOW WHO U ARE BOZO AND SO DO U) It's easy enough to make jokes about them, we all do it but there are alot of people rooting for them, me included. |
As a member of the RAK airways staff, i can assure you, without divulging any confidential information, that things are moving. Well, just do what you can to do rather than what you were planning in doing:ok:. Small is beautiful;). P.S. Please, do not create at any Ps and VPs in your upper structure. Once there, they all become very "presidential":suspect:, |
3 weeks gone and all is quiet over there. Suddenly, Dana is making a bit of headlines instead of the 4th UAE National Airline:confused:.
|
Things moving ahead
Doubting Mustafa I agree with you about the HR Manager she definitely brightens the place up. And I'm sure you're right, the new dynamism being shown at RAK Airways must have all the other regional airline CEOs losing sleep. The words Utter Farce spring to mind...

Oh Ye Of Little Faith!!
I've just been reading all the comments about RAK airways, some of them being a tad on the sarky side!!
Hey everyone has to start somewhere so why not give them a bit of encouragement instead of taking the mick, who knows in 5 to 10 years time you might actually be looking to work for them yourself!! Are all you guys who think RAK airways is a bit of joke working for Emirates? If so we all know how they've been treating their employees over the last few years, yet you guys got a lot of support and empathy, so how about giving some back. I have a lot of faith not only in RAK airways but also in RAK as a town, they have a vision of what they want their town to become but they are being realistic about it. There plans are not for it all to happen overnight but over a period of 10 years, hey you have to learn to walk before you can run. Just try and look at the bigger picture guys!! However long it takes for RAK Airways to get off the ground (pardon the pun) that's how long it will be, in the meantime those already working for RAK are all living in nice brand new properties, getting paid and will have the satisfaction of knowing that they contributed in getting RAK Airways up and going, a lot better for moral than the attitude of Emirates which is "you don't like our policies? leave, there's a queue of others waiting for your job!!" From an avid fan of RAK:ok: |
Can you please tell me how to go about ordering tiles.
I am having my bathroom remodeled |
