AOC and Jack
 

I heard Jack's contract was up and he decided to leave, but that sounds very dubious.
I also read about their AOC for al hamra air on Feb 14th. How long do you guys think before they can complete all the audits, change name, equipment type, train pilots and cabin crew, create new manuals and get their desired traffic rights? Oh, and hire a new CEO to run the company.
Curious about the guy who wants to drop a CV after hearing all this about the revolving management door. What are you thinking?
Anyone have experience going through a similar exercise with another airline that can share ideas on timeframe....6 mos, 1 yr?

United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, February 28 - 2007 at 07:00
RAK Airways says it has dismissed CEO Jack Romeo, because he was 'unable to deliver what was expected of him', according to MD Dr Khater Massaad quoted by Emirates Today. The airline was due to launch operations in February 2007, but that has been deferred until April. Romeo will be replaced by Indian national Kishu Tekchandani.

Why downhill .,....Because of the Indian NAtional ???The new person hired is very expreienced person .HE is joining along with his team.He was previously Cement Corporation of India (one of the worlds biggest cement companies)Dont know about the experience in the Airline INdustry But he was also one of the front runners in HEading all the Airports in India.Rak Airways has to start flights to india and he will helo with the loopholes in order to speed up the process .Lets see what happens!!!interesting Airways stories !!!!!!!

Let me explain to the dumba:mad: s who dont understand. Downhill meaning that RAK has lost a CEO before it has even started flying yet. For any company starting, whether it be in aviation or not, to lose a CEO before it has even got off the ground is not a good thing! Hence the comment "downhill"

Ryan please dont turn this into a racist slanging match! That just goes to show the chip that you may have on your shoulder.

I totally agree with your definition of "down hill". (Almost) in the words of Shakespeare "Methinks he protests too much". A little background info for our friend Ryan, those who are good cement makers are not necessarily very good in the aviation business. If you remember FLS Aerospace was a fantastic cement company but were fantastically lousy managers in the aviation business. FLS Aerospace ended up being bankrupt at Stanstead & other establishments and were eventually bought by 3i company and finally SRT stanstead. After decades in the aviation business I have learned you must have a person who has been involved in the aviation business, otherwise my suggestion to the cement maker (whether Indian or Irish) is they should venture into brickmaking projects rather than airline management - especially low cost airlines. If you don't believe me, ask Stellios...

Jack Romero !!!!!but the person heading the airline is a very deadline oriented person.i have worked with him in regard to the hotel there.Obviously even he has targets !!lets see what happens...

103.8 - Dubai Eye radio station said this morning on its Business Breakfast program that Jack Romero, the former CEO, was dismissed due to the delays in getting the airline airborne. And according to officials in RAK the airline is aiming at a May 2007 launch with flights to India and Iran.

For the good of the airline and its employees, let us hope the new CEO, who is the number 3 CEO in 12 months, can be a true leader and captain of the ship in the months to come. With all the waves splashing through RAK Airways last year he will need some time to get warm in his seat.

To get a start-up airline into the air you need a strong CEO with in-depth knowledge of how the international aviation machinery works. If the CEO lacks this knowledge, he needs to rely on the professionality of his closest colleagues, the head of each department. If one of them fail to deliver, RAK airways will continue to limp into the future.

RAK Airways will start flying in May following a decision by the board of directors, according to Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the Chairman of the RAK Department of Civil Aviation, and cited by Gulf News. Al Qasimi said the series of delays to the airline's launch date was the reason for CEO Jack Romero's dismissal last month. Indian national Kishu Tekchandani will take over within a few days.

First CEO was lebanese guy called Mazen Hajjar lasted a couple of months. Jack clung on for almost a year. Everyone eventually gets fired. Half the cabin crew went last week for example.

Whats happened to the security guy? Rumours are that he has been found out that he is not qualified and been asked to leave.

Any truth to the rumour?

If you see the Rak Airways website which is www.rakairways.com The logo has changed .Take a look at it .Probally new guy takes over .He wants it his way.

Not only third CEO but third head of flight ops (count 'em) second head of training, both of whom are also off soon, second head of cabin crew, second quality manager, second head of ground ops. Security manager well known to all in the region as a duffer. All this before the first flight of any description. Launching operations with head of flight ops #4 must be a record. Everyone there knows who's really running the show and it aint the CEO.

Interesting reading there Camel Toes. I`m wondering, if your information stick ( and I have no reason to believe otherwise), what is the new CEOs take on this? Does he see the reputation of the company going down hill, or does he see new people coming and going in management positions as part of the game? I mean, all post holders, except for the VP - Maintenance, have been in and out of there since early 2006.

The other question is, when will GCAA lift their eyebrows in direction of RAK. As far as I understand the AOC is back in the shelf, less the approval for operating the 757. With the third Head Of Flight Ops and the second Head Of Training off soon (your information), how is it possible to keep some kind of continuation in this organisation :ugh:

Wonder if the new CEO regrets taking on this challenge ;)
