Real leaders shine in times of hardship....and we still need to see 1 standing up in the ME be it in corporate or higher...

All in shambles....Even Arabtec and S&D have gone tits up....50K people on the street... Wonder who will pay for their repatriation...

One starts to wander IF they even have a plan in EK or in Dubai...

I have lost count how many have been let go in FD in EK (someone has a number?).

The carnage in HQ after last round...wow...And in their stupidity they culled again many good folks.

Fired600 7th Oct 2020 10:44

FD has to be 2000 or over now.

Flying Clog 7th Oct 2020 16:27

Absolute carnage I hear. 1200 or more cockpit redundancies, and countless cabin crew.

Just goes to prove; Emirates are a pack of camel excrement.

Many of my friends joined there for the quick command and dollars.

Roll of the dice. Told you so.

Icarus2001 8th Oct 2020 09:53

I am just imaging how slow the bottleneck of recruitment will be on the other side of all this. The ramp up is going to take a while.

euroxx 8th Oct 2020 10:09

Are they still making crew redundant? Will it continue for 2021?

allert 8th Oct 2020 10:13

In such an unpredictable manner in which they're letting people go... who knows, depends on how they wake up feeling each day.

Fired600 8th Oct 2020 12:09

They are making FD redundant so I would be surprised if they are not doing the same for the crew.

The difference is that crew historically joined almost weekly, courses through training college were running like a sausage machine. Unlike FD, crew are on 3 year contracts and as such there are crew reaching the end of their 3 year contract at the same pace as they joined. That is convenient for the company since they dont need to make them redundant since they just allow the contract to expire and bad publicity is avoided.

As for will it continue into 2021, who knows.......

euroxx 8th Oct 2020 12:34

Ground staff at LHR told a crew friend that the 2 380 flights will be replaced with 777 from 29 October. Meaning the 380 looks like it might not be operating at all until March 21

Specially since pretty much all of the recruitment team has been made redundant as well. Could well take up to a year to bring new people on the moment they decide to.

Flying Clog 8th Oct 2020 15:14

Emirates will be a shell of it's former self, so I wouldn't lose any sleep over the recruitment team being AWOL.

WB1900 8th Oct 2020 18:26

I hope nobody thinks that we get a sim check to revalidate the TR just before we leave because they are so human loving people

it’s gonna be easy new TnC a phone call followed by a medical 5 sim session for being out for than 120 days and all by the sudden someone will fly again

thats Timmy’s deepest plan - because we all are coming back

krismiler 9th Oct 2020 00:30

Any airline retrenching pilots can overshoot the required number without worrying too much as there will be so many looking for jobs and the recovery will be gradual, giving plenty of time for recruitment and training.

A quick bounce back in a time of shortage would require much more careful planning.

Cantbebothered 9th Oct 2020 03:53

5star

Just saw in the news Arabtec the UAE's biggest construction company has filed for liquidation. So even staff who were retrenched wont even get their EOSB anymore. At least EK gave EOSB to their retrenched staff. Things are really brutal out there.....

fatbus 9th Oct 2020 04:29

What is S&D ?

Oceanic 9th Oct 2020 05:49

I think the reference may be to another Dubai construction firm, Drake & Scull, which is reportedly under UAE bankruptcy & seeking an agreement with its creditors.

5star 9th Oct 2020 12:42

Oceanic, thanks for picking up my slip...:ok:
indeed as O said...

Juan Heych 11th Oct 2020 03:01

How many 380s are in long term storage?

I’ve heard only a handful are flying at EK.
And the pilots are being thrown out.
Well, ex-pats anyway.

Just wanted to keep this thread at the top and cause more aggro to the muppets at EGHQ.

Spoke to a friend last night in Dubai. Just when you think that EK (mis)Management can't get lower than a snake's belly, they achieve the impossible again. Some colleagues that have been sacked/made redundant, requested that they be able to stay in Dubai on the EK Visa but at their own expense, in order to allow their kids to finish important school years. The reply from the garbage that infests the Puzzle Palace was we will have to think about it. Imagine what those poor kids and families must be going through and now this. Remember that Ahmed the Liar and Timi the Liar always told us that people were the most important asset of the airline.....

Another friend attended the clinic in SZR. Only 1 doctor there..... Those that know will know the doctor wife of NW was also just terminated. Quality people.

Additionally, I have been asked to contact some friends in the media and ask them WHY just A380 Pilot losses of 1400 out of 2000 or so and 16000 Cabin Crew losses have not had publicity in the media. I will certainly be doing so.

As my Dubai based friends will attest there WERE some top end training guys (and girls) until they got rid of 85 of them with the exception of a lone female European who:

1 Failed her upgrade then passed it
2 Then 6 months later gets downgraded
3 Then scapes through in Jan....

It does raise some question about Wastaa!

I feel the pain of all of you treated like dirt and will do whatever I can to show EK for what they are.

QNH1013 19th Oct 2020 10:31

A European in the Middle East with Wasta? That has to be some serious high level connections. Shocking what has happened in EK, I guess the 777 crews must be counting their blessings to have escaped relatively unscathed

fatbus 19th Oct 2020 22:14

Many sub standard ( overall 3)were "missed" while a huge number of good( overall 4) drivers chopped . I know the overall grade not used but you get the point!
