A few others around same time in the same boat...

Perhaps they should comb through their previous applications with similar stories...mind you,
happily flying a bus at home with 15 days off a month/50-65 hours and good roster bid satisfaction :)

Mate, you won the lottery...I would never ever consider going there under current conditions!!

How long before EK has to offer commuting contract to regain some appeal compared to Asian carriers, as let’s face it, there is only so much money you can throw at pilots before it stops being a factor?

They would have to throw money at the pilots first. The company will go bankrupt before they would ever concede to the wishes of the pilot group.

Finally the secondment from the national carrier is signed.

donpizmeov 21st Jun 2018 14:26

Is it for three years?

greenfields 23rd Jun 2018 22:21

2 years upon completion of line training.

whatsyourbeef 24th Jun 2018 00:22

Does anyone have an update on how many aircraft of each type are currently parked?

Smoke mountain 24th Jun 2018 05:46

I think if EK started requirement Ab-initio from other neighboring GCC countries who is struggling to get jobs they my solve their problem, at least this people will be used to the way EK system is running..

Odins Raven 24th Jun 2018 08:09

Is it not easier just to merge the two finally? And get rid of the surplus fleet. Nice mix of short and long-haul AB and Boeing, and two bases eventually moving into one in 30 or so years. By then the two cities will be almost touching each other along the coast anyway... Abu Dubai.

GKOC41 24th Jun 2018 08:33

CH-Aviation news reporting Emirates neighbour is to second Pilots to EK for two years

Scooter Rassmussin 24th Jun 2018 11:31

So all pilots in UAE will be on 100 hours per month , share the love ! This is not a fix !

Certainly looking like the direction of travel. If Al Nahyan can get over the loss of face from not having his own airline it could happen fairly soon, and it would solve a lot of problems for both EK and EY.

Merge? So DOH ?

The local political issue is that a merger would result in the disposal of pretty much all of the neighbours fleet. It wouldn't be so much of a merger as a wipe out and the neighbours powers that be really don't like being taken over by the younger brother.

2008 Abu Dhabi bails out Dubai.

2018 - nobody in AD hierarchy wants to see EK bail out .... you know who.
