Got the money, got the title, got the life (hopefully for him) he wanted. Got the chance to be the unpleasant person he is, and be complimented and admired for it.
One day he will go away, close the door and enjoy the rest of his life, or not, not our problem.
While we may soon find ourselves again looking for another stupid "takeoff, rotate, gear up, flaps up ......long hours....., flaps down, gear down, touchdown, hotel room" job around the world under some other tyrant, just because he is not the great manager he thinks he is.

According to STC on the latest ICE interview, aircraft will fly faster, higher and without windows. Removing the windows will reduce the weight by half...his words. That left me wondering if he meant that they should remove the windows and fly around with holes where the Lexan used to be or just cover the holes with high speed tape (to be inspected at every station)? Another way to reduce weight is to remove seats, crew, water, food and other such "non essentials" which in turn will lead to a further reduction in weight as gains will be realized by a loss of passengers! and all the weight associated with same.

I was sort of expecting him to see the future in teleportation but di-lithium crystals and Scottish engineers are hard to come by.

Sort of like Elon and TSLA claiming we will be living on the moon in FY20, but still burning $300 million a quarter and having a myriad of quality control and production issues.

Maybe STC hopes no one notices all the aircraft on static display...

STC is quoted in 2005 that the A380 wonder bus will be operated like a coastal cutter. Crew will work 8 hours on and 8 hours off. This will negate the requirement of layover expenses associated wit the crew.

Yes he did rehash the 'cruise ship' idea not so long ago in some other interview... I remember it being discussed on the bus.

8 on 8 off, lol and where does he think the 'off' crew will be? Certainly not in a CRC of any quality for 8hr 'off' and definitely not in F/J seats....

Ya know, I remember that, and was one of the few who thought- bring it on!

If I could have departed on an aircraft, and arrived back four days later having racked up 60 hours, half of which I was asleep for, I would have thought it great- do that three times every two months and you are even being "productive" by EK definitions, while working 6 days a month!.

Eight aircraft in total parked. The previous 11 or 12 aircraft returned to service in the last few weeks.

Even so, thats still a lot of expensive metal work, parked out in the sunshine gathering dust.

So STC is pretty honest with his math. 8 parked aircraft with a crew factor of 7.5 (or 15 pilots per plane) equal a shortage of about 120 pilots. He wants to plug that hole with the SAA drivers. Of course he isn't interested in hiring hundreds of additional pilots just to make your life easier. He perceives the compliance of rosters with GCAA "rules" as sufficient. Time will tell.
