LHR Rain

The Part A doesn't state that DEC applicants shall have widebody experience but it is preferred that they have. Interesting to note that 330/340 experience is required for the latest 330 DEC advert but the response seems to have been very poor. No real surprise there I guess.

vfenext 7th Apr 2015 04:02

LHR was never one to let the truth get in the way of a good story.

LHR Rain 7th Apr 2015 11:11

So you weren't at the pilot meeting a few years back where AAR and other mangement types said all the DECs will have wide body experience because that is what we need.
You didn't mention or comment on the FOs upgrading now with less than the requirements stated in the OM-A.
Is that getting in the way of your story VFE?

Turkish Airlines - Announcement - turkishairlines.com

I'm there. No obligation to attend, but would be very interesting to hear what is said and also to see a couple of hundred pilots show up.

Kapitanleutnant 7th Apr 2015 12:57

Brilliant move by Turkish or any other carrier looking for T7 Pilots…. as EK has the most.

Wonder how many other carriers will be coming into town this year…. CS, HN, KAL etc. Some probably have already had some shows as I recall

Visual Procedures 7th Apr 2015 13:57

So clicked on the Turkish link, followed it to 777 captains.. It says:

Only JAA/EASA/FAA/ICAO licences are acceptable.
Has anyone asked the question, or does anyone know if this rules out Australians ?? :E

Kapitanleutnant 7th Apr 2015 14:32

So... Is Long Reach also coming to dubai? I've looked all over their website and can find no mention of any road show or dubai.... Meaning it
was probably staring at me in the face!

And how does Turkish think the T7 guys at EK are going to get 5 days off required for their assessment process from the rostering?

Longreach roadshow Dubai
Will be in Dubai this Wednesday to Friday.
Go to
Longreach Aviation China

Asia, both in China (China Southern, Hainan etc) and also other carriers (Fiji Airlines etc). discuss everything from what RSPs are available worldwide, for which aircraft types, what commuting contracts are on offer, and where things going over the next 18 months - 2 years.

will be able to explain what is available for A380 guys, A330 guys, and B777 guys, and also for guys with not much command / heavy time. will be able to talk about the imminent opening of Auckland, the possibility of LAX opening on the B777, possibility of Perth opening up on the B787, and other opportunities.

VP, Isn't a GCAA license an ICAO?

vfenext 7th Apr 2015 15:53

AFAIK when you leave EK you can't take your UAE licence with you. Company takes it back and cancels it.

Boeingrestricted 7th Apr 2015 16:44

my rule of thumb, pilots point of view.

- Any company having to advertise once a year is most probably an acceptable/desirable employer. With opportunities and is somewhat employee oriented.

- Any company having to advertise more than once and/or can be viewed on a regular basis advertising vacancies (lets say 6 times a year). Is most probably a non desirable employer, without opportunities for personal improvements. But is a no thrills employer do the job and shut-up kind of stuff (two way traffic). With opportunities but not employee oriented.

-Any company having to advertise on a rolling basis utilizing all available means to attract 'victims' is most probably a non desirable short term employer without opportunities and is a one way traffic into the system and not employee oriented.

Than you have the known odd balls like goats and sheep . Anything is possible here regarding personal improvement and/or opportunities but is NOT employee oriented no matter the catching phrases (they are there to catch you literally) .

BUT What you are looking for is the silent company ,where nobody remembers the last advertisement placed , offering you all the opportunities IS employee oriented and around the corner of your domicile but unreachable for whatever reason in the past and now for known reasons to Captains and older F/O's.

Pilots Hand Guide finding a job.

Kapitanleutnant 7th Apr 2015 19:56

LOL….

I used to think Korean was the largest airline in the world with the most orders for 744's and 777's with all the pilot hiring they do… nonstop!!

Sadly, not the case.

Email them and ask. They will send the info. A lady named Deb White is arriving today. She will have the location and timings for the info sessions.

Kapitanleutnant 8th Apr 2015 06:08

Here's the info on the Roadshow from LONGREACH (Received this am 8-4-15)

((When I get info on when and where, I"ll post here…))

"Deb White, from Longreach, is currently in transit to Dubai, to run a roadshow for Middle East guys (Emirates, Fly Dubai, Etihad etc).

Deb will talk them through what options and opportunities they have over here in Asia, both in China (China Southern, Hainan etc) and also other carriers (Fiji Airlines etc). She can discuss everything from what RSPs are available worldwide, for which aircraft types, what commuting contracts are on offer, and where we see things going over the next 18 months - 2 years.

She will be able to explain what is available for A380 guys, A330 guys, and B777 guys, as well as B737 and A320 guys, and also for guys with not much command / heavy time. She will be able to talk about the imminent opening of Auckland, the possibility of LAX opening on the B777, possibility of Perth opening up on the B787, and other opportunities throughout Asia.

For anyone who is interested in what other options are out there, it will be a fantastic opportunity, and one that does not come around very often. It will certainly be worth anyone contacting her and finding out when the presentation will be (actual times TBA).

Her email address is [email protected].

I would certainly appreciate if you could forward the email above to any Middle East guys you know, and ask them to do likewise - we would like to talk with as many pilots over in the Middle East over the next couple of days as possible."

Vfe...

I've had several friends leave EK for greener pastures and I've asked them all. None have had their licenses taken from them. Not sure where you have heard that but I think it's just rumour.

Do you personally know of anyone who has had their licenses taken off them? And I don't mean your 'second cousins maid who works for a guy who's son was told'.... blah, blah, blah.

Please enlighten if you have "first hand knowledge" of it being diff.

Mister Warning 8th Apr 2015 09:43

Can confirm EK take your licence off you when you leave. If you want to keep it you can, but your final pay has the total cost of initial issue, and every subsequent renewal, deducted. Cnuts.

Kapitanleutnant 8th Apr 2015 10:11

The total cost being about how much…..?

Might be worth it if not exorbitant.

Isn't a GCAA license worthless outside UAE anyway

At least to the Chinese authority that is true. Elsewhere perhaps also?

Dualinput 8th Apr 2015 15:09

Don't think any airline cancels the license when one leaves. Never heard.
But remember, once the license expires, there is no way to renew it unless you are associated with an operator in the UAE.
