Bullsh1t! It’s in the employee manual. If you are employed by the company the day it’s paid out you’re eligible.

You receive ONE 'move', meaning, you can use freightworks (any size container up to the dirham amount you are entitled to based on years of service etc) OR you can choose to use Sky Cargo up to a certain weight (can't remember that weight since it was not much).

You can use any company to do the shipping

Divert he means that so long as they can get away/justify not paying it, PS is not gonna happen any more...

Is it customary for accommodation to withhold a few thousand dirhams even if you've had the final mandatory maintenance inspection done and they say all is well?

TineeTim 19th Feb 2018 11:59

Yes. Returned with final payout about two months after your last day

Thanks for the info!

When turning in the family's passports to get the UAE residence visa cancelled at EKHQ, do you also have to turn in the UAE ID card at the same time? Or can you keep the UAE ID card while the UAE visas are being cancelled. Trying to avail of some of the UAE resident offers, but one or the other is required for the hotels...thanks in advance for any info.

Was told the uae ID cards were no longer required for visa cancellation when I left at the end of last summer. Don’t be hesitant to email or call your contact at the end of service team with any questions. I found them to be prompt, polite and very knowledgeable. By far the best departement I dealt with during my time at EK. Good luck...

Our container arrived today in Aus and was unpacked. Freightworks were great.
Qantas are looking for over 200 pilots this year and they value the EK pilots experience.
Cheers

Shipping pets

Does anyone have any recent experience of shipping pets with sky cargo back home.

I’ve been quoted 27k dhs for 2 dogs back to the UK however most of this is for the airway bill preparation as the crates are too big to be classed as excess baggage. I’ve heard of people shipping to Paris as a way around the AWB issue and collecting by car.

Does anyone know the current discount to Ek staff for sky cargo shipping? Thanks

givemewings 12th Mar 2018 10:42

Pudding,

You can get a cargo quote via Trips, in the menu click Cargo concessions. It's not super duper exact, but pretty close. Otherwise the guy at the desk in HQ B side can help you work it out (not sure if that includes pets, but he can definitely tell you and was pretty helpful for me when I was sending personal boxes outside of my repat allowances. Be aware that animals can only go to certain airports in the Uk though

If you’re using a confirmed ticket you can take a pet with you as extra baggage. You’ll have to handle the paperwork yourself. All in it cost us 2800dhs including vet fees. Call sky cargo, it’ll take some effort but well worth it in the end. Good luck...

We used British Veterinary Hospital on Beach Road. The price esacapes me just now but it was well worth it. They collected the dog from our Dubai home and he was personally delivered to the destination residence. Slick, professional and trouble free and I believe there was an EK discount.

The chaps name was Pushkal in the event he is still there.

Trader 13th Mar 2018 21:34

It is easy to ship the dogs yourself as extra baggage on your return flight. You need the Pet Passport and paperwork from your vet. Take that to Cargo Village - Dubai Vet who checks your dogs chip and paperwork and produces the export paperwork.

The trick is to make sure Ek knows you are bringing the dogs. Call them in advance (at least 7 days). Drop them off as you check in (go a bit earlier than normal).

givemewings 14th Mar 2018 06:46

Seems that YP has already checked and cannot send them as baggage due to the crate size, only as cargo

tripleslavin 14th Mar 2018 09:29

UK and Ireland won't accept pets as baggage, has to be cargo. So depends on the destination.

Maid visa

Has anyone transferred there maids visa to another family in emirates? Just want to know what I need to do to get my 2000 DHS back...?

CorrectSensing 29th Apr 2018 06:15

US Visa

Another question I have regarding the US Visa. My new employer needs me to keep my US Visa. Do emirates cancel that visa too? Or is it kept on your passport and only the UAE visa cancelled?

thanks in advance
