Come to EK, but don't do it based on the fact you will have good rosters because there is no guarantee.

Thanks CC, I totally appreciate what you're saying! I'm (still) after one, just to lay my eyes on it, something to think and talk about with the missus. I know you can't bank on it but it's a start to know what a 'good' roster is.

:ok:

Does anybody know if they're still considering the 30tons limitation ? if so would they consider Embraer 190 time ?:ok:

Iver 17th Mar 2014 23:13

When is the first A350 expected on the property?

If you are about to join or consider joining / applying please do your homework and research the following points. I wish someone would have explained to me clearly before I came to Dubai:

- All new joiners on Airbus rumoured to go to A330 fleet. Upgrades looking at 8-10 years at the moment. I'm not making it up, just do the maths.

- You WILL be on SBY for a whole month every 5 if you join on that fleet.

- You will not likely get more than 30 days leave a year.

- Rosters are up to 92 hours and 90% turnarounds, most of them at night, and maximising the duty limits.

If you happen to join on the B777. There's only 30 command upgrades planned for this year. Your command, joining now, will be between 7-9 years away at least.

Salaries haven't virtually risen in the last 2 years, with an increase of about 40% of the prices in Dubai.

The accommodation / utilities allowance will only cover you guys for a 2 bedroom apartment in an average area. Forget areas such as Downtown Dubai or Dubai Marina unless you go for a 1 bd or a studio.

In the end it is your choice, but honestly, don't let them fool you. Things are going downhill. Ask anyone.

It will also get you a 3 bed villa in The Springs!

General Dogsbody 29th Mar 2014 19:44

You might get a 3 Bed in the Springs for the allowance, but you will be out of Pocket for DEWA etc, and at the mercy of the Rent increases. New Joiners with Family's should find out as much as possible about the New EK Villas(Meydan Heights)..

Calling it institutional is being kind!

Had to reapply in the new job application. Most of my details had carried over from the older application. Got short listed email within 5 days and interview in 10 ish.

Enjoy your new villas chaps :ok: You'll love it. They are quality beyond belief, encourage being social, you'll get to know your neighbours very well! And the rest you can see for yourself.
Enjoy your rosters at the red and gold dragon, oh you will be treated well and lulled into a nice place for the first 6 months? After that they'll treat you exceptionally :E

I did not take these pictures, its relinked from another thread for those that aren't interested in researching

interview invite

Just received my interview invite. 5200tt 1500pic all heavy jet with last 1000 being B-767 B-757 time. I applied in May 2012 right when I got 4000tt. Got the email that I was short listed a month later and then waited... Kept updating my hours. Then sad when Emirates flushed out my account at the beginning of this year and I had to reenter all my data. Got short listed again in Feb 2014 but was figuring I was in for another year wait when I got the email today. My question is what is the wait time from when they tell you "you're hired" to the training date now? I saw where there were guys who already passed the interview and waiting for a training date only to expire after a 1 year wait and EK told them to interview again. Are the holding pools for training gone?

MTOW

Anyone have any info on the 30 Tonne rule?
Does the new application specify 30 or 55 Tonne?
Does emirates accept F100/CRJ time?

Just want to make my next step worthwhile.

Cheers

Latest news

some news from late March selection:

Still very much the same process.

Compass testing, abstract reasoning (what a ****!) with time limitation and sim on Day 1.

Sim as described many times before - visual from DXB12,DXB-MCT LOE, then Raw data ILS, all nice and easy.

be very careful with day 3 psycho feedback, group exercise and interview.

They appear to be quite unclear whom they want to hire, as in my group they failed 5 people on day 3 with no clear or visible problem points, and all of these unlucky guys being current and experienced Boeing & Airbus CAPTAINS. ALL OF THEM!

So at moment it looks like EK is looking for submissive and unexperienced F/Os.

I think if you get the invite to dubai you are essentially hired... The rest is down to you during your week there. If they got to day 3, it would have been questions marks over them as a person not as a professional pilot. The bits you can't easily retrain. And that could be anything...

All the successful guys on my assessment drank beer with their daily 100 dhs EK allowance at the premier inn, those who didn't stayed in their room every evening, presumably on pprune :8
