Hello Mutt,
In response to your inquiry,(for a change), I was invited to Jedah, about a month ago, and told to prepare for a Jan.9th ish. medical and sim check. Have heard no further since from Belal Could be for either the 743 or Hawker/Falcon program?? I really don't know which...Cairo went well. So, if anyone in the same boat, please advise... Thanks...Sushi |

Just for curiosity, will A320 operate European routes even after A330 being delivered?
Are Saudia's A320 equiped with ACT? It seems quite a long way to Europe on A320 even with frew pax. I use to operate A320 on full charter configuration and one of our destinations were around 2,500 NM and had the reduce the capacity from 174 to 144 seats. How long are your layovers in Europe? Happy landings |
Thanks mutt,
Sounds great to operate in a shiny new A320 to Europe. Wish I could do it! I imagine the amazing confort onboard your A320 with only 120 seats. Happy landings |
Do you guys get the 10 official holidays per year with the 30 calendar days annual leave, making it 40 leave days per year?
|
looks good
100 days... that really looks good...
|
That's very nice :ok:.
Do you still get the 6 days in a row per month? Happy landings |
Mutt, what is the official ruling on age 63/65 issue
Somebody mentioned in passing the Capt Miller is leaving in a few weeks. He is almost 64. He was offered a 1 yr contract at a reduced salary and not many benefits. Is this what the pilots have to look forward too?
jumbocpt |
He was offered a contract to do "what"?
There is confusion about the new retirement age, should it be 65 hegira or 65 Gregorian years, some are getting to stay until 65 gregorian, some at 65 hegira :):) Mutt |
Perhaps Capt M is not happy about leaving. I heard about the 'new saudia' without medical benefits, ramadan bonus and 40% less pay. I wonder who will be coming to JED under these conditions.
Somebody had to make a decision about the 63/65 rule for sure. Did the new hires in Toulouse get a contract yet? Rumor in the US going around is that they have not. |
Perhaps he shouldn't have written a 64 page tirade of garbage about the 777 operating to the USA Hmmm, now that should make for interesting reading...:} |
Sounds good....
privatization will not impact terms and conditions |

Looks like Capt M should not have submitted his 64 page report to the DG. The plan for the 777 was already underway. It's a simple matter of economics so I see it not only as a waste of time but getting your name on a list that will affect you in the future.
I left JED, after many years, about six months ago. Honestly, I was treated fairly and was upgraded through the system. Patience and a sense of humor certainly helped. |
BadAndy
You were unfortunate to join Saudia in the middle of big transition. It's tough time in any place, but here it's triple tough. If you manage to live through and not lose your cool, you will feel quite comfortable later on. Especially if you stay here long enough to see really big salary, maasalama money, extra travell benefits, longer vacation. In the process you will enjoy your ACMs, free accomodation, school for children, Ramadan bonuses and your very life the way you're able to organize it. After ten years (it's hard to believe now you will stay here for that long) people find it quite difficult to leave this place, and after few years more - almost impossible.
So, stay cool for now (if you can) and take it as a part of the job description.:) |
