FAA to Saudi license

Mutt, if you hold an FAA ATP would you be required to take any knowlege exams for the issue of a Saudi license (apart from type rating test and aural), or is it a completely seperate license?

Dont know!!!! Some are getting asked to do it, some arent. Its a GACA thing. The written exam is based on the FAA test.

Hey Peter Pilot Head,
I very f@cking much disagree with you, I made enough there in 19 years to retire at 56. I'm sure Mutt is in the same shape. The Saudi's are straight up, and I no of no one who has been long term in Jeddah that would say any different.

go back a couple

Could we go back to that woman thing.....where would you get one of those??????????

BadAndy 11th Aug 2009 22:15

Mutt (or anyone else in the know)--

Any truth to the rumors that the A-320 deliveries just got delayed and the new hire classes for it are pushed until January? Or, is that just rumors flying around?

Also, anyone know how long the visa is good for, once issued? Our medicals hit their 90 day limit in about a month, so we'll have to get visas before that, or go back and redo the medical exam. But, if the visas are issued, how long does one have to get to Jeddah before having to repeat the entire process? Thanks.

Any truth to the rumors that the A-320 deliveries just got delayed
2 days ago i heard a rumor that SVA accepted an offer from Airbus to take 17 aircraft before the end of the year rather than 9..... Its false :)
Now you have a rumor that aircraft deliveries are delayed, well once again false :) First of 9 aircraft is due start Oct. 21 more due in 2010. Plus 8x A330's but not all in 2010.

I never expected new hire recruitment before Jan! The crew shortage starts to raise its ugly head in April/May when the number of aircraft goes over 20. Before that, MD90/E170 crews will transition over to the A320.

The HR Guru is in Dubai interviewing for the corporate side, start asking him the questions about medical etc on Sat, but please remember that the Holy Month of Ramadan starts around the 20th, so things get quiet around here..

Considering that the corporate side offered jobs to over a dozen pilots last week, I expect this thread to get quite busy.... Well bad news, I'm outta here! Well at least til October. If whatever dingy bar i drag myself into has internet access, i might be able to reply, but its not high on my priority list :(

BUT, generally your questions arent new, look back across these pages and you will find the answers and remember a couple of things.

1: The holy month of Ramdan starts in 5 days, so tasks will be accomplished in a more relaxed manner!
2: Have patience.....
3: Work visas are required and the immigration will be working shortened hours.
4: Even BK is human, I'm sure that he will go home to celebrate with his family, he certainly deserves it!
5: Leave any "shoulder chips" at home, you arent coming to reinvent aviation, just do your job, take your salary and relax!

Have fun.......

Medical in the US

pprune surfers...

anyone out there who recently was hired either on the airline or sfs side that had to make arrangements for the medical check in the US?

talked to one of the SAA HR offices and was told we arranged this on our own. If anyone has done it within the last couple of months, could you fill me in?

PM if necessary.

thanks.

Had a question:

How hard is it to secure a work visa? A colleague of mine has been waiting for nearly 3 months to join 9W (commercial position) but hasn't had any luck with the visa..
I'm sure securing a visa for flight deck crew is both different (in procedure) and easier.

Many thanks.

A320 FO positions

Hi folks,

Anyone have news about the A320 recruitment. It doesn't show on line. I am an FO with 750 on type and 2000 TT. Are there any chances to get on with Saudia.

Romasik 26th Aug 2009 09:33

I've never heard Saudia was hiring FOs on A320. They only need qualified captains and HR has lots of applications on table. FOs will all be locals. As A320s arrive Saudia will be fasing out MD90s, so there will be no shortage.
Sorry!

Resignations?

Is there any truth to the rumors about large numbers of resignations by senior Saudis?

I have been hearing anywhere from 50 - 80 Captains are departing for other local carriers.

mutt 28th Aug 2009 12:57

50-80 seem high, Wafeer don't have enough aircraft to hire them all :):)

But they are certainly protesting against Sabre and voting with their feet, easy thing to do when you get an 80% pension! Will be interesting to see how many actually walk out the door.

But you have to admit that its an airlines executives dream, get all of your highly paid, low productivity producing pilots to resign and replace them with lower paid pilots with higher productivity targets! Especially if you CANT FIRE the old guys.

Typical Paycheck

How much money can a BE40XP SIC realistically expect to make working with SFS?

I've read Saudia's posted breakdown of wages and benefits but I want to know what a typical take home paycheck is for their SIC's.

Any replies from current or former SFS pilots are appreciated.

Knowing SV the way I do (was there for quite a long time)...my advice, look elsewhere, for a SIC position with SFS.
Ignore if you like...but...don't say you weren't warned.
SV normal line pilots?
Same, same.

IE: it ain't the 'good 'ole days' anymore.:}
