When I applied for Type rated captain, my 737NG hours counted. I see they've now been deleted for all those in the same position.

I still have an FO application in and that's still "under review", a month later. When do most people hear from QR?

Sjef van Oekel 3rd May 2017 14:25

Requirements for the DEC Type rated Boeing changed. 737NG hours were accepted, this has been removed now, as you can see on their careers website.

tonker 3rd May 2017 15:18

Hence why the Captains application says screened and can't be withdrawn I guess. Ho hum, FO it is then.

I know it's a piece of string, but roughly how long under review to phone call?

AFAIK, you must have no pending training bonds from former employees when joining QR. They even ask for proper documentation (release letter).

787 Ground School and Simulator Training

Brief question: Where are the initial training and simulator sessions taking place (787)? Doha or abroad? Thanks.

B737SFP 4th May 2017 04:39

The last friend of mine who went to the 787 did his inital training in Singapore... To tell the truth, I think all them went to Singapore at first(787 fleet). There's an Alteon Training Center there !

What I heard is that the inital training abroad is much more relaxed than the one "in the house".

Avenger 4th May 2017 10:52

Yes not accepting NG hours now for DEC, if you are in the training system you "maybe" ok, if you have a DJO as a Captain, based on NG hours but didn't start the training probably change to FO. No outstanding bonds accepted. 787 training in Singapore.

Papa_Golf 4th May 2017 11:28

For Boeing training you have many options:

1) In house in Doha, STAR course mostly.

2) Gatwick or Singapore, Full Course with Boeing instructors then QR OCC back in Doha.

3) Same as above, but short course with QR instructors.

Regarding DEC coming from NG, for as much as I know they just closed the application. If you have passed the assessment you should be ok on the 787.

Silver68 is correct, latestpilotjobs site says 737NG
Avenger is correct, Qatar website doesn't include the 738NG

I would guess Latestpilotjobs is using a old advert

Silver68 4th May 2017 15:12

Avenger, as I said in my first post, the advert was on todays latestpilotjobs website. I'm aware of the what the Qatar recruitment page says.

JButler 6th May 2017 15:22

A few people I know recently did the QR selection and used The AirlinePrep App from AirlinePrep's website. They said it was very comprehensive with all the feedback questions.

Hi guys,

I had a stomach surgery on feb 2016, and I didn't fly for 3 months because of the surgery, does that mean I cannot apply for the A320 captain position since in the listing it says "Hold a current LPC and has flown the A/C in the past 18 months prior to joining Qatar Airways"

Thanks

You intepreted it wrong.

"Hold a current LPC and has flown the A/C in the past 18 months prior to joining Qatar Airways" means that your last flight on the aircraft should've been no more than 18 months from present days. So if you're currently flying the A320 you can apply without problems.

Got it, thanks Lepo

You best make sure that you have a medical clearance certificate that addresses your surgery.

Any news about how much pilots they need for the rest of this year?

I feel like they are not in a hurry anymore to hire people, but then again would it affect assesment passing rate anyway? Since they have the whole pool system with the waiting going on and they can leave people on standby before joining the company.

In my case i am rated on Airbus 320, more than 11000h as F/O . Flew 320, 330 and 340. But i would like to change for Boeing. You think that i can have chances for it?

trancada 23rd May 2017 21:25

When you're invited for the interview in Doha, doe the company pays ticket and hotel there. Eventualy you fly on Business class?
What has been the themes, in the group interview?
What are the manouvers in the simulator?

They usually tend to keep you in the same fleet you're type rated, but it all depends on their needs at the moment of hiring. Honestly, nowadays chances they place Airbus guys on Boeing fleet and vice-versa are low, but it has happened before.

Company pays for flight ticket and hotel. Meals are not included.
Ticket is a confirmed economy class with business upgrade depending on seat availability.

Detailed info about the screening can be found on previous pages in this topic and also on latestpilotjobs.com.

I felt the same. I think, you'd better keep your current type to be well-experienced or stay experienced, and wait to be upgradred to the commander position. Man, 11K hours you're talking about ! :uhoh:
