Dhl Bahrain?

Gday fellow professionals,
Chasing info on the metro operator out of bahrain?
What are their work practices like? How much do they pay? What type of housing is available? How is the maintenance on the aeroplanes like? Can you move onto the Boeing aircraft once established in the company? Whats life like for a single? Can you live on 1000USD per month as a per diem ?
regards
YR

Use the search function dude; top right of the screen. All the details you seek have been posted on this forum in the past 12 months.

Good luck.

Yes, they still operate a couple of Convairs.

No, there are no direct links to move to the Boeing fleet. Technically it's not a DHL company; it's called SNAS. Therefore, there are no natural progression to the EAT or DHL Air 757 fleet. There are at present no plans to replace the SNAS 757PF sadly lost last year. Volumes are picking up dramatically in the ME, and the 757 that used to do the BRU-BAH-DXB-(BGY)-BRU run has been replaced by an A300-600F AND (for the war-time moment) a DHL Airways DC8-73F.

Maintenance is to airline standards (what did you expect, hi-speed tape?), done by mainly brit expats.

DO is still PB, and he's still very much in control.

Whilst there is a fairly large number of expats flying for SNAS, the tendancy seems to be moving towards local hires. If the choice is between an expat and a local, well .........

DHL bahrain

Flip Flop has it wrong the maintenance is GA standard and we carry quite a few MEL's on a regular basis, most of the engineers are canadian or local and there is no longer any progression on to the B757 as it no longer exists and the contract is firmly held by Brussels now and operated by a A300 from Iceland.
You could live comfortably on US$1000 per month but you would have to add car rental on to that or haggle and argue with taxi drivers constantly.
The director of ops was suspended for an engine failure incident that he handled illegaly.
As for the operating conditions we avreage 80-90hrs per month depending on available pilots and average between 8 hrs and 12hrs duty per day but 15 hrs duty is not uncommon as we operate under FAA regs and as most Metro pilots would now it is as hot as hell with only 1 eyeball outlet per pilot in the cockpit and temps getting high and humidity on the increase it is very very hot.
