foxtrot, I was wondering what type of pilot would you be, are you one of those bearded pilots who flys a plane like he drives his car down these ever so safe middle eastern highways.
Just a point to ponder, during my carrer as a pilot I was lead to beleive that one does not stop learning and for one to think that they know it all is a reckless mind set to fall in. Your teacher isn't just one who is more experienced than you, but whoever you have the opportunity to sit next to regardless of position, you would be surprised at what and whom you can learn things off. As a professional I was also brought up to understand the simple fact that humans do make mistakes and mistakes will happen from time to time, To learn from such mistakes and to share such events is what creates a safer flying environment for us all. Nightbird has showed extreme modesty in posting two such events for us all to learn from, he has shared a couple of experiences that have made him think and obvousily made him chage his habits/actions in the cockpit to ensure a safer environment, I do feel that your posting is unjust and you should have a real think about what type of person/pilot you want to be. Just remember if you keep on driving your car like a blind idiot one day you will have an accident.
PPrune is an open forum, I think it is a shame that such a forum goes to waste 95 % of the time, the forum gets used to bitch about fellow collegues and the companies we work for, instead of educating each others by sharing such experiences as posted before. Myself I will end this by saying thanks to nightbird, your post has been the first in a long while, it is about time someone chaged the attitude that this forum has fallen into.

Hi Foxtrot,
i was under the immpression that this forum was just the place to put in ones 2 bits worth.
Thanks for letting me know that this is where the reputaion of Airlines and their pilots are actually made(or unmade!)
will watch that itchy typing finger of mine in future!
By-the-way, i think what tunnelvision's name says, is that he is someone who has a sense of humour.
that you missed the point, could say something about you too my friend.
No major offence meant.
Regards

Just for the record
If the QR FSO is the person who I think holds the post.
a. he has a genuine interest in, and has put a great deal of effort into, trying to generate a high standard of flight safety culture within the airline.
a. he is no stooge of Akbar's because he certainly does not need the money or the job.
b. He is a young captain who has striven to maintain high personal standards.
c. is a fxxxing good bloke,
So I would hope that this particular chain of posts will not become yet another QR bashing effort, which it has just about managed not to become so far. We will please save our fun in that department for another subject, (and there are plenty of opportunities for that !!!).
