Has it changed in 2025? YES

Just have a look at the cost in Dubai (UAE) at whole…

The pay (tax free) sounds super attractive. Just have a deeper look into it.

If you are coming from Europe/UK your shopping will be taking place at Waitrose or Spinney’s!
You’ve got other (cheaper) options - if you want to lower your standards.

Savings are zero…

Housing has gone through the roof…

Yeah, the option is to go for company housing…If you like all your next door Neighbours being EK colleagues (left/right/front/rear) - GO for it!

If you want to opt out…

Savings are zero!

Don’t fall into the Dubai trap… Used to live there for quite a bit! The money seems to be good initially! If you try to keep up with friends from other professions in Dubai - good luck!

We have seen people arriving with nothing and the same people leaving with nothing!

Dubai is quite tempting when it comes to living the lifestyle - be careful!

What do I know…

Thanks for the insight. Yes I have been doing a bit of research and your comments are on point. For someone like myself coming from Australia working for a legacy carrier makes me think if i really should or not. Obviously the hype is there but dont see it sustainable for a long term career….

This is just me being curious, why would you consider EK if you are from Australia working for a legacy carrier?
I would understand someone working for an acmi or low cost.
Is it the living, money or something else?
Again, just curious..

I am of the opinion the "good days" are over. I would seriously suggest you have your bags packed, ready to go.
This Iran thing is not finished. They will have to be clobbered again, then the retailations will start once again. Big time.
So, get your "heads out of the sand".

In all seriousness is it still a good option?

Considering leaving a command position in a European LCC for the AC programme.

I have a young child and considering the jump. The reason for the move would be more for them than for me - lifestyle, schools etc.

I’m looking to leave this position anyway at some point in the near future so thought it maybe worth a try.

The money is nowhere near as good as it seems due to the cost of living.

The way to get ahead was to buy your own property and have Emirates pay your mortgage on top of your salary. But looking at property prices now, think how much deposit you would need just to buy something basic. I think that will rule out most people.

It is still a good move if your top priority in life is to live in Dubai and/or the Emirates operation is attractive to you.
