Dxb file a case
Hello all, last night landing at dxb, we were told to maintain 180 knots by aproach, then he changed us to tower, then tower told us to maintain 160, but we already decreased speed to aproach speed, so we increased the speed, but already at about 1400 feet, so didn’t increase to 160, we increased to about 150 and then back to aproach speed.
after we landed we where told that they will file a case, what does this mean?
thanks

Whilst it’s a team effort with ATC, they are there to help and facilitate for you, not the other way around. A simple “unable” is all that is required as it’s their problem to plan appropriately with regards to spacing on final. All that being said, 160kts to 4 miles is a perfectly reasonable requirement in standard dusty DXB VMC conditions.

You will get a letter from whatever company you work for asking why you didn’t do as you were asked by ATC. On that note, why didn’t you do as you were asked? If unhappy with the instruction given by ATC tell them your unable. This lets them plan around you and sort out the other traffic. Lots of big heavies in DXB, plus a lot of traffic so slowing up so early against ATC instruction can cause big problems for ATC and also the other aircraft.

And the poor final approach controller might get in the poo as well if minimum separation wasn't maintained.
