No you cannot. Standby to commence the most frustrating bureaucratic procedure ever. Actually 2nd (First is trying to register a boat in the UAE).

It only took me 10 separate visits, 6 wasted off days and 1000 kms of driving to sort my maids visa.

I wish I could be more positive but when you’re dealing with people that only give you snippets of information on each visit that is usually incorrect, it takes a long time to get to the bottom of things.

The typing guy in HQ in back room behind receptionist can do it all. Need to bring the full amount in cash and all the paperwork including blood test.

Te best blood test center is in Al Rashidyah, ladies only medical fitness office is very easy. Tying there.

To get the 2000 warranty back that they will recharge you as they have migrated to Online warranty can be refunded at the bank outside the main immigration office at Trade Center roundabout. If you lost receipt for the 2000 the typing guy can go into system and get a copy or you can pay at main immigration office 143dhs?

Any previous years or maids where the 2000 warranty was not refunded can be done at main immigration. Just ask at reception “Lost warranty receipt” , they’ll print a new one for 90dhs, take that to bank in same Immigration HQ compound, they’ll deduct 80 ish

All doable but the mother of all fafs. But we know that already.

I’ll be flipped if they getting an extra AED out of me.

1st world and ME? I beg to differ. Money is not a sole qualification to be called "first world". Greetings from Europe ;-) (and from a former goatliner skipper)

And the "maid" "problem" is indeed a big problem, but in so many different other ways. Was there a long while ago and it is just disgusting what the "ME" is doing to so many maids from 3rd world countries. Playing with hopes, telling untrue stories, keeping documents, raping. AND - paying peanuts - of course. But the expats did adapt that "service" very fast by themself. Like they would pay a maid back in their homecountries. Keeps the wife a bit more free for more shopping or the longer stay in the Ritz(replace by a club of your personal choice here) club. Was there, have seen it. And raised our own kid by ourself, as we always did and still doing now here in Europe. Distgusting. Not worth a "first world"(just in their own thoughts) region. Take care about you kids by yourself AND TEACH them proper behaviour towards women. The ME is however not really the right place for that.

Good luck, I hope you can solve your "problem".

I used the service of a agent who I can highly recommend. Accounted for all expenses and even got change back! His commission was reasonable (600 dhs) and took all the hassle out of it all. Even picked up and took to medical centre. A few of us have used him and comes with references.

PM for details.

Don't forget to renegotiate the head-ache money package while you're at it.

Maids. You wouldn't dream of having one back in the real world with a wife working a real job, but can't live without one with a non-working wife in the ME . Mind boggles.
