EK380 to Dublin

Recent article in the Irish press about EK recruitment roadshows in Ireland said that the A380 will be flying to Dublin on Sunday. Is there any truth to this?

There isn't, it was initially scheduled for this SUN but there are delays in the delivery of the next few A380s so it's been pushed back ... the new date has not yet been set.

Heard they were de activating 50 trainers next month as can't get enough suitably qualified people to fly the big bus. That's around 30% of the trainers on that fleet stood down as they have nobody to train. It's no wonder deliveries are being 'delayed'.

What a bloody mess we're in......

Management, it's not difficult. Get the package up this financial year as an incentive not only for new joiners but more importantly, to retain staff. Education allowance until 21 will help as well as statutory 3% increment and min 5% please! Stop restricting pilots onto the 380. It's a bloody airplane the same as others FFS so train the guys to fly it! As numbers begin to increase, get the hours down. 90 max. Offer overtime to those that may want it, not force it upon all of us. Offer part time to a small percentage on seniority basis. This retains experience and gives hope to those who will be following up the ladder. Ensure the full 42 days CONTRACTUAL leave is honoured. Reduce the number of 'mandatory' on line courses done in our own time and start making the manuals and updates easier to digest and understand.

Yes the rosters are being offered with 5 days off end of month and beginning of next but these things were around 10 years ago. Why change it? We don't want little scraps to feed on, it's too late for that. You need to act now and stop burying your heads in the sand. People are leaving, we're not getting the numbers we need and a large number of pilots are pissed off, tired and demotivated. It wouldn't be such an issue were it not for the fact we're still expanding. We need new pilots to fulfil that ambition and in case it wasn't obvious..... they're not coming in the numbers needed!

Whilst appreciated, it will take more than a free sub load SRC to keep people happy.

Harold our fishy friend can you please post that as a standalone post and call it 'FAO Ek management' or similar. Then can we make it a sticky? That's too good to restrict it to just a reply.

Actually change the % pay rise before you do, we're due the 3% step plus at least 20%

cods dreaming

I can write pretty nice things as well, I dreamt of rosters with more than six days off in a row.
I dreamt of overtime at 75 hours.
I dreamt of.....
oops, wasn't a dream was it? it's simply the past.
I must be getting old. long term memory comes back without really realizing it.
anyway, just relax. nobody will really care about our stupid contractual proposals here in this forum.

Regards

20% pay raise to catch up

11 days of per month guaranteed

OT threshold moved to 80 hours. (we don't have the crews for it so pay OT at a true 1.5 time hourly rate)

Rostering - fix it so it works like it once did with a rotating bid.

The crews don't exist to actually reduce to 80 hours but take these steps and pilots will at least 'believe' the change is coming. It also shows potential new hires that EK is serious. Once again you will have the highly qualified applying.

As you crew up it becomes easy to fix the rostering issues and the leave issues will take care of themselves.

Was Harry drunk when he posted his reply or is he finally coming to his senses? If it is the latter then welcome to the fold Harry!
It seems if a pilot stays here long enough even the battle hardened wake up to the atrocities being committed here.
As for what needs to be done it is all of the above mentioned plus more.
Jumpseats, get rid of the Factoring, cheaper Staff tickets is a good place to start and doesn't cost the company that much out of pocket expenses. We are so far below what needs to be done it will take years to correct the deficiency and that's if the managment actually decides to remedy the situation right now.
It probably won't happen so get those C.Vs out. Everyone is hiring.
