I'd heard the FZ guys make a bundle more in their check than we do at EK but don't get all the extras we do… housing, transport, utilities.

I think if you were to get an apples to apples, it would probably be pretty close to EK.

9 days off

I should be grateful as its two more days off than I got last month!

Another month of lost sleep replaced by a sore backside.

Don, in answer to your question (and at risk of thread creep), I rent a v.nice 2,100 SqFt, apartment (2 bed + maids) in JLT for 8,250 Dhs per month (plus bills for DEWA + Palm Cooling, presently in summer in the region of 1,400 Dhs per month)... you can do the math.

Monthly break down as follows:

Basic salary: 26,705 Dhs
Transport allowance: 4,000 Dhs
Accommodation allowance: 16,000 Dhs

Flight pay (per block hour) & sim pay (based on time in the sim) = 175 Dhs per hour.

86 hrs + RGTS and 2 SIM

I don't have a problem flying 900 hrs a year.
But give me my 42 days leave entitlement. A deal is a deal.

330 LHS 10 days leave and still managed 10 turn arounds and 2 sim supports!
I would much rather rather have 90 hours of ULR thanks!!!! Us 330 drivers get 8 days off a month, no layovers and do about 65-75 hours hard graft every month and will never see overtime!!!

I suspect the point of this thread was to try to illustrate that rostered hours would decrease to meet the new O/T level however it seems to be the case that many are flying well into O/T now and, presumably, to be paid for it next month.

There goes that theory..... unless of course they're playing the long game, but prescience and foresight aren't qualitise you'd normally associate with the crowd running this gig.

There you go Don. OKC answered as you expected; basic at FZ as a senior skipper is rubbish and the allowances are kak.

I won't start on the EK lack of pay rise but it's nice to know we are still more comfortably off than the 73 drivers across the airfield...

White Knight I cannot but concur with your conclusion... but, for an element of quid pro quo, there is something to be said for never being jet lagged (uhm, I did once do 'long haul', and I hated it!), and there's also the fact that at FZ we do get all of our allocated leave, and (for some of us at least) when we take our leave we're able to bid to tag on several days-off beforehand, plus several days-off post leave; indeed I myself have just had 28 days off in a row, albeit that I used only 14 days of leave .... so it could be worse, e.g. I could be at EK... but wild horses and all that!

Good for you OKC. I have had my full leave very year (except this year - and that's another EK story). As you say; Horses for Courses. I like my four or five flights a month. Some ULR (sleeping like a baby in my bunk) and some not - like my July roster which is five Euro/UK trips... It's what I like☺ You enjoy your 11 turns and 31 nights at home👍👍👍

Oops, sorry GA Button... but if you could please just indulge me with a quick last retort to White Knight... wherein having just actioned a swap, I now have only 10 flights in July (all of which are in the day time), therein giving me 15 days off... 7 of which (in a row) will be spent in my house in Brighton / UK... though, perhaps somewhat ironically, I'll probably use EK to get there & back (firm seat of course, 'coz I gave up pissing about with SBY travel, especially on EK, years ago!).

If you'll indulge me too after OKC's last effort.. I may well be flying you to Blighty on your trip 'home' as I have mainly morning UK/Euro flights next month! I struggle with an average of four trips ex DXB per month so do come and say hello OKC; I need a bit of moral-support😂😂

WN, most probably one of the flights to LGW on the 10th July and looking forward to it...and if you're free & available and in the neighbourhood (within that week) I'll treat you (and your team, and I do recall that, on the 'bigger aeroplanes', it can be much akin to herding cats trying to assemble them all for an evening out) to dinner in Brighton !

4 European flights a month would yeald around 60 hours a month. Surely you 'super' guys are working a little harder than that? Heard one of the night Delhi will be going 380 when the other suitable gate opens (currently occupied by Lufthansa's 380. Another Mumbai and a few JED's to come as well as CGK and possibly MNL. Your two class people haulers are too good an opportunity to miss on those high Y class sectors. All rumour of course.

As for 'sleeping like a baby' on ULRs, strange how most of the ASR's refer to a similar theme, only worded differently. " Couldn't sleep because of a screaming baby", and all on the 380 it seems. Perhaps you need to pass on a few tips to you insomniac colleagues on the next CRM class!

Not trying to willy wave....mine's far to small and withered to even contemplate such a charade. I know yours is bigger, I see that every time I go to work!

Toodle pip, as someone used to often post many years ago.
