CAT C Firm "waitlist"
Hi Guys,
Booked a CAT C firm tonight, but there were no tickets available under CAT C Firm so I ticket the "waitlist" box. Am I correct in thinking it's then basically an ID50, i.e standby but higher priority then CAT A subload?
E-tickets etc for the correct sectors were issued.

Check the onload priority section in the staff travel manual, you will be ahead of all CatA, but behind the likes of ALT etc. If there's seats that open up, it will often have allocated you a confirmed seat by the time you go to check in online.

Thats what I thought too Irish.
Even though I have a ticket I can't seem to check in online though, which according to the call centre is because the ticket is "pending", so can't check my onload priority, but it does according to the manual seem to be higher then
cat A.
Still confused why it won't let me check in online. Could it be because its a firm ticket without a seat, which has to be converted in to a standby ticket with a higher then CAT A priority by the check in staff?

Pretty simple really.
You've bought a ticket for a class (ticket class that is) which was not available at the time of purchase. TRIPS will let you do that as the class could become available and/or it will give you priority over most other standby status tickets. It is highly unlikely that there will be an ALT in a similar position as they will issue as many ALT's as there are commercial fares available.
Cat C's that are wait listed are treated as commercial standby, behind any regular customers of course, and ahead of CAT A 's, SRC's (wait listed 'firm' or stby).
The reason you can't check in online is because a CAT C ticket would normally physically 'load' you onto the flight. If the fare is not available, I don't believe that you can checkin online, has to be done at the airport.
The only time a standby Cat C makes economic sense is when there are a number of other standby passengers on Cat A's etc, you expect a number will be senior to you and you need to travel.
Good luck.

Except you can check-in online with a Cat C if those particular class seats are available! Heck; I've just received an e-mail from emirates.com showing my son's itinerary for tomorrow and showing online check-in links - and he's got a Cat C ticket...
The other time a Cat C helps is that if the flight is payload restricted (as I had trying to get to Milan once on a 773) you have priority over freight. And that helps

and if your class of travel is full they will downgrade your class (or classes) ahead of SDBY in Y or J even if they are senior to you
anyone know the scenario of a more senior employee on a Cat C in a class that you have been downgraded to? Are you given priority due to your higher grade of travel privileges or does straight DOH rule?

There is on load /offload codes depending on the type of ticket. If a DEC has a Cat A first and a more senior FO has a Cat A J class then if first is full and one seat avail in J the FO gets it.
