First part

Two planes collided lightly at 14h45 on Wednesday (4), the Tom Jobim International Airport (Galeão) on Ilha do Governador, Rio According to the Air Force, was the touch of the wing of a Boeing 777 from Emirates, which taxied the courtyard, with the empennage (rear part) of a 737 Gol parked. There were no injuries.

According to Infraero, the beat between the aircraft did not cause delays in flights

The only flight canceled due to the accident was the EK 248 Emirates, who leave for Dubai at 2:06 a.m., due to the accident.

According to a note sent by the airline in the early evening, the flight EK 247 (Dubai-Rio), performed by the same plane was taxiing when there was shock. "There were no injuries, the aircraft followed its procedure and the passengers disembarked normally," says the note text.

According to Emirates, passengers will be accommodated in hotels and a new flight will be scheduled for the fifth (5). "Emirates apologizes for the inconvenience caused. Safety of our passengers and crew is of the utmost importance and will not be compromised," adds the note.

Cenipa will investigate
The Center for Research and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (Cenipa) will investigate the case as "the occurrence of ground." The pilot of the Emirates flight which left Dubai to Rio, will be heard by the Brazilian Air Force (FAB).

In a statement, Gol said "the aircraft that operated the flight G3 1026, excerpt Congonhas (SP) - Santos Dumont (RJ), alternated the final destination for the airport because of weather conditions in Galleon Santos Dumont. Upon receiving authorization for landing now this airport and the aircraft parked completely in position 41 (remote), preparing for landing, there was a collision between the wing of an aircraft for Emirates Airline and rudder of the plane of the goal. "

Also according to the airline, the 47 passengers aboard landed normally. "The occurrence of ground and aircraft will be evaluated. Gol regrets the discomfort caused to passengers and emphasizes that the safety of its customers and employees is a priority item in its management policy," added the text.

Governor of Bahia was on the plane
Among the passengers of the flight Gol was the governor of Bahia , Jaques Wagner . According to his spokesperson, he traveled alone and was not injured . The information was passed by the governor that the Gol plane in which he was already turned off the engines , the door was opened and passengers preparing to land when all felt a thud . Nobody would have fallen or been hurt , because it was a " saculejo " , according to Wagner .

The political left São Paulo , where he was attending a meeting of the Brazilian Association of Tourism of Travel Agency ( Abav ) , in Anhembi , and traveled to Rio for a meeting at Petrobras .

End

Google translate FTW, may not be completely accurate but gives the general idea...

Only 47 passengers? Not a very profitable trip for EK.

You guys are incredible. An EK wingtip collides into the tail of another aircraft and you're discussing passenger numbers.
At least turn it into an Airbus vs Boeing debate if you want to thread drift.

To be fair, it looks more like Boeing vs Boeing, imagine if it was a 320 rather than a 73, just look at the damage in MEL recently, a 320 would have been a write off

Upper and lower rudder

Maybe there's a provision on 737 NG CDL that make possible to operate with "split rudders", a la 727!

All I know is "fatigue" will not be an issue. That will be determined before the investigation begins.

Parking

I love this forum..... Not! Some mature and sensible facts would be much appreciated ie was the GOL parked correctly, was the EK aircraft on the taxiway centreline was there sufficient room for both aircraft on said parking stand! I think you get my drift!
