QR B787 Smoke Incident

It appears that there has just been an 'incident' on a QR B787 in Doha (A7-BCB).

Unconfirmed reports say smoke from the rear equipment bay. APU battery issue again??

It did happen; I was taxiing for TKOF when 5 fire trucks and 1 Med vehicle surrounded the B787.

Seems as though they are keeping the event very hush hush.

QR B787 smoke incident

It was an electric issue. Aircraft came out of hangar from maintenance check. Was at A14 with APU running waiting for crew to arrive. Several EICAS messages lead to APU shutdown when ground power was connected which tripped three times. Then smoke from one of the cockpit panels. Panel was removed and found some relays melted. Aircraft is now sealed waiting for Boeing experts to arrive.

Amazing how people come up with these things! Airbus-Scarebus, T7 - Cripple 7 and now this!

The 787 is a brilliant machine and is a 'generation' ahead of the current aircraft... Only a matter of time when all these issues are ironed out.
