It's hard to tell but the last upgrade joined in the middle of 2009 so about 3.5 years but it's hard to predict what happens in the future..

It's running @5 years due to the number of pilots that were by passes . Don't forget those that failed will get another chance. It's been written before 3600 pilots now 1800 Capts and 1800 FO's do the maths, next new hire is 3601. New hires do not have an AC to upgrade onto based on the current fleet plan. This year there might be more upgrades on the 330 this year, regardless of AC retirements .

Assessment Preparation

Hi, Does anyone have a recommendation for preparation for compass testing? I have the Skytest for DLR, wandering if its worth downloading the latest Skytest for Middle East carriers? Can anyone who has recently completed the PSP in AMS elaborate on what the assessment consisted of, any variation from what used to happen in Dubai as previously mentioned? Thanks in advance, and good luck to those with upcoming assessments!

Congratulations and good luck to those that have been called for interview!! Things appear to moving but slower than they have in the past.

A quick question for the guys attending the PSP NOT than the full interview...What hours/experience have you guys got?!

Still sitting tight here....

Hi all, I applied in March 2012, got shortlisted quickly, received an email in November again saying I was shortlisted for future A380 selections and asking for an update of my application, which I did... haven't heard anything from EK since then, now I am reading that guys having applied less than 2 months ago are getting called for interviews ...!!???

Anybody else in the same situation?

A320 5000hrs total, 4700 on type ...

We are way too many F/O on the mini airbus fleet, flying 40-50h/month in average (at least me and lot of my friends for the last 3-4months)

I guess they've postponed the DEFO 380 program until the have the correct figures of how many 380 ek will get in 2013. DEFO will happen but not right now, maybe 2d part of 2013 it's just my guest....

By the way there is also too many F/O on the 380 as well...be patient or ask for the 777

After 200 hours to be correct, Bus Driver Man also has the same figures..

I guess you're from the US, I did my flight training there and I know it was also shocking for our american instructors to hear we were already flying twinjets when they were still busting there asses instructing on PA28's to build some hours ... but that's the way it mostly goes in Europe, some lucky friends of mine even got to begin on 757 ...

Anyways, thanks lfrk...but I have been waiting for nearly a year and patience is not really my thing!

I would love to go on the 777 fleet, much more than on the Airbus actually, but I don't think the choice is in my hands ... ??

Also, a colleague of mine is starting at EK in less than a month as a DEFO 380 ...

I guess this just doesn't make sense

just have to wait and see...inshallah!

I believe we will be there in early September, Inshallah!

Failure rate is massive, I was really impressed!
Where did most of the guys in your group fall down, in your opinion?

We were assessed for the A380 since the beginning.
I think you will find that you were assessed for wherever they want to put you! The assessment is the same for all fleets.

Directly from the A380 chief pilot last week meeting,
9 or maybe 11 new 380 in 2013, aircrafts leaving 4 A343 (2 gone already), 2 A345, 2 A332. He said now there are leaving for sure. but who knows...

That's why, with all the leaving aircrafts they have too many F/O, there is no need for DEFO380 now...

And what about the 777 fleet, do they still need FO's or are there enough in the holding pool?
Does anybody know how many deliveries will there be this year?

If rumours are true, with 2000 applications on file, and no doubt increasing, may I pose the question as to what selection criteria EK use with regard to calling for interview? If there is indeed one of course.

I have seen many posts of candidates which far exceed the minimum requirements for the positions for FO, yet some have been waiting longer than others for an assessment.

I only ask as when I do eventually apply, I will be a

"4000 hours of which 2000 shall be on a jet....candidate" Which is not a current EK type.

I expect it may be a bit of a wait for an assessment!

I was contacted in December to interview in January. Dates were full so I was pushed off to February. Dates were full again and was told to expect March. Now I have been told my application was re-evaluated and I have been taken off the interview list and shortlisted again. What a crock!

Unfortunately it's supply and demand. Hugh increase in CV's from high time pilots.

Is 10k TT with 6k on the Boeing, among others, not high enough?

To be uninvited to interview with double or triple the time of others that have been called makes little sense.

Is your time on a type comparable to the EK fleet? As they say all hours are equal but some are more equal than others.
At least you get to see what the company is like prior to start date.
