It takes a lot longer than two weeks to get the process moving. Did you get an acknowledgment of your application? It usually takes about 8 weeks before they assess your application to see if you fit the bill and fill the requirements. Then you are looking at several months for an interview. There is a book available that outlines the interview process and is available at amazon.com, I cant remember what it is called but im sure that someone else will know. Hope that is of some help.

Question Emirates

Hi there,

I have received the automated email responce saying they were reviewing my application and that was around 4 months ago. I updated my details the other day and received the same responce. Others I know have gotten a PFO in the mail. Is it normal to wait 3 or 4 months?

Thanks in advance,

Yes, it takes time. At the moment few airlines are recruiting so guess where most of the applications are turning up. Yep, you've got it on the EK website server. Don't be discouraged, EK will get to you when they have time. Please don't expect to jump the queue, EK had lots of qualified applicants that wanted to join before 9/11 and have had lots of qualified applicants since. When 'your' application is received, bells and whistles don't go off saying employ this guy!

Look around and look at the on-line application form, what makes your background and experience sooo unique that you expect to get ahead of everyone else? Oh and by the way when you do get an interview, don't buy the book, EK don't want to employ the man who wrote the book they want to employ you. Be yourself and you will be fine.

Talking Emirates

Ghostflyer,

I never meant to imply that "I" should be hired because "I" am an outstanding pilot or anything like that......

I.......was simply wondering why a lot of people I know got PFO's and all I received was the email ackowledgement. We applied around the same time, 4 months ago. I guess maybe it's the old "NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS".

I meet all their requirements except I'm a little shy on the jet time. I have 6000 hours, 850 of which is on the 737-200. Would they let that slide I wonder?

On that note, to all who have applied .......GOOD LUCK and keep the blue side up.

To all of you thanks very much for the information!

Does anybody of you guys know, if EK always uses an A-310 Simulator for the Sim screening?

Always keep your spirit high!!

Schleprock, the 1000 hours jet time is a hard requirement, the Airline won't let it slide. As you don't quite meet the requirements yet you may not get confirmation of your application.

Chrisflyhigh, it is very likely that the interview flight test will be in the A300/310 sim, but not 100% guaranteed. In 6 days time EK only has to keep 15 pilots total current on the 310, so it should have the most spare time by quite some way. But, nothing is stone, it still gets used for third party training. What-ever sim is used, you just fly it like your current aircraft anyway. It's up to the EK guy in the other seat to massage speeds, flap settings etc to keep the thing in the air (unless you are going out of your way to put it into the ground of course).

Cose but no Cigar

I did indeed receive conformation of my application but I didn't receive a "nastygram" yet.

If Canada 3000 could have only held in there for a couple more months I'd have that extra 150 hours. Oh well...........

I've got a few other irons in the fire and should have the time soon.

Thanks
