Qatar Airways Orders - Where are the crew coming from?

With new A320 and C Series orders to be announced at Le Bourget one has to ask where the crews are coming from?

I hear from a reliable source that in addition to the significant C Series order there will be an announcement for 50 (25+25) A320's.
I have also heard that the A380 order will grow in time to reach 50 aircraft.

With all the orders QTR has on the books (or will announce this year) either conditions will improve drastically or AAB might as well order an awful lot of mothballs.

Current fleet = around 90 (latest A320 arrives this week)
B787 = 60 orders (30+30)
A350 = 80 firm orders
A320 = 50 orders??
A380 = 7 orders (5+2), will soon be 10 firm and could stretch to 50
Bombardier C Series = 30 orders??

Busy time ahead for recruiting.

It seems a little bit to much! But not impossible! Money is not a problem around those burns (we hope)!

Money is not a problem to buy aircraft, but it's a BIG problem to give pilots a raise.

School allowance : just enough to cover one kid in Doha
-No pension.
-No Bonus (sorry i got 1 week Bonus(only ONCE!!) after so many years here!!)
-A little annual 3% increase on your basic only and for the first 5 years of seniority in your respective grade.!After 5 years .no increase!
-A thiny end of sercice ""benefit".
-No commuting contract.

happy?
Its far brom being the best conditions here in he gulf area!

I forgot to mention in my first post that the talk is of the new A320's being utilised for QR's low-cost carrier 'Qatar Express'.

I also heard today that it is an additional 70 aircraft, not 50 as previously mentioned.

Apologies if this is old news for some.

Where are they comming from???

Or should we say who's staying?
If anyone has seen the new updated version of the seniority list on the portal, you will see that the number of pilots in QR are actually lower than at the beguinning of the year. My count is just around 20-25 pilots.

So how many are joining? I bet less than the 30 a month they need, and by the looks of it even less than the 15 resignations a month.

Who want's to join a company with that level of resignations, when other companies are hiring?

Well if they hire 30..pilots a month( 4x30=120 from JAN till april)..and if on the other side the total number of pilots since the beginning of the year has decreased by lets say ..20..( 4month)as you mention..Make your math..it means 14O pilots resign...!
Oops that what i heard recently from a TRE...rumors comes true??

Some others lovely rumors:

-A320 Cpt transfer froozen till next year..
-Planning department still wonder how they gone make next months roster:Pilots Leave might be cancelled in july..(lets just hope they will have the decency and the politeness to ask the people before....)

I am not saying 140 people resigned, all though it is probably what you can expect this semester.

I have a question though, is the 30 pilots a month number taking into account the rapid resignation rate or is it not?

An other question, how many of the 85 resignations are from people who've jumpshiped? Are they also taken into account, since they don't really resign?

Just running the numbers I get the number of people who've joined QR. It would roughly be: 85 minus the 20 pilots we've lost on the seniority list = 65 in let's just say 4 months. Almost 17 a month.

What's next for QR?

As has been mentioned there will be a big increase in second officer/cadet pilots, after all, if EK are recruiting heavily with a better package....surely that is where those with a choice will go. The expansion will continue regardless, locals here already bypass the 320 and go straight onto wide-bodies with 200 hours.

If this is true. And with upgrade on B777.
Definitively this company will end up in an accident.

in qr its the the matter of getting crew...plenty of applications from everywhere...check with recruitment and they have piles of apps..but it the quality that they are not getting only quantity.many apps from low timers to small a/c guys but hardly any fully rated and experienced.now with paramountarg in the picture they might be even more apps from small jet guys from the states...
this whole region needs pilots now..ey,ek,qr,aa,flydubai,and even some operators from saudia.looking at this and global market plus the pegging of riyal to dollars i believe many many more would go away to greener pasture in coming months..
i do agree with many of the post..what basiclly qr need is not only a pay rise but a retention scheme..it was promised but til now nil avail...
well.......its sign of good times for the pilots global market so lets make good use of it till the next downturn...happy flying.
