Gulf currencies

I am coming to the Gulf for three weeks vacation and shuttling around the various states, including Oman, Dubai, RAK, Abu Dhabi, Qatar and Bahrain. Do I need a bag full of all the currencies or is there widespread acceptance of any of them. If the latter what is the most widely accepted.

Dubai, RAK and Abu Dhabi are part of the same country. UAE Dirhams work here. In Oman you can use Dirhams again virtually anywhere. They exchange at around 1 Omani Riyal is worth around 10 UAE Dirhams. All the currencies of the GCC countries are widely accepted. Enjoy your trip

Thanks a lot, I used to work with Gulf in 68 to 72 when it had DC3's and am coming back to see the difference. I am particularly looking forward to getting into the Oman again as I used to know it like the back of my hand.

Cool

Welcome to the blessed land, don't forget to bring 1 or 2 empty barrels so you can take some cheap fuel back home....

You should also be able to use up any left-over UAE Dirhams or Qatari Riyals in Bahrain at a rate of 10:1. Not sure about how widely Bahraini Dinars are accepted elsewhere.
