EY Baghdad
Funny according to management Baghdad is a safe place. Nothing to worry about its all ok insurance will pay out etc etc etc, yet today alone 10 are killed there, its all very reassuring.
Its nice to know the bosses are right behind us.......way way way behind, in Abu Dhabi, counting the money for doing the run!

Our bosses don't fly there..... RH stays in his seat. He's already just able to reach LHR on a sunny day thus Baghdad....
But we shouldn't worry, RH has it under control.....

Just checked my own insurance policy, and they answered that war zones such as Irak and Afghanistan were not covered..... I'll call sick, at least the pilots are allowed to do so.... The cabin crews received a memo that reporting sick for Baghdad was not allowed and subject to disciplinary action...... Welcome to the land of freedom and safety & security.
I'll fly there with RH only..... and go AOG...let's see his face.....

How come the big PM's of UK and others have military escort into Baghdad, at night, unannounced and with a huge and high circle to land, and yet this is not required on their return to the UK at LAM or else where for that matter?
Obviously, Baghdad is still deemed a threat to those that think they count, and here we just blast though on a routine arrival, schedule announced for all to see, without escort in the hopes no one will hit us!
Heard rumor the AVSEC audit was not in Ops favor in the first place!

Baghdad should be a voluntary run, that would then afford Management pilots the opportunity to lead from the front, show all us cowards how its done!
But to be frank may be an incident would be the best form of advertising for the 'worlds leading airline', it would certainly make headline news around the world. That would then increase revenues and enhance managements bonus. It didn't do DHL any harm when one of their birds was hit live on CNN!
I think this run is a stroke of genius, but then again EY is full of bright ideas. Watch out though mentioning Kabul may become a reality, it may be seen as yet another money making photo opportunity.
Sure EY believes in safety they have a system already in place to react when an incident occurs. In fact there is half a million bucks in a briefcase in the office to help ease the pain!
Going sick is not the answer and as to the threatening of cabin crew its beneath contempt.
I wonder if God forbid something were to happen that JH and the rest of the brain trust would 'fall on their sword' and admit they were in the wrong to take blood money for a war zone route! more likely they will say we agreed to go by ticking the box at check in!

Did it last week. ATC something to be desired!
We had a problem with aircraft on ground which meant if not fixed then no-go. Spoke to ops who advised support aircraft available for dispatch to pick up crew plus pax and bring in engineers to fix u/s acft. In the end not needed as flying spanner did the works.
RH I beleive was on innaugral flight along with many other bigwigs...
Just for the ATC service, I am reluctant t go again...

As far as I know A320 fleet chief did the 1st one on A320 and if RH did anyone on A330. it would have gone public big time and advertised on their little propagandalike newsletter.......
Do you really think that your family would get anything from EY after you die there ???
Ask AZ' wife......... A private fund had to be created to support her and the family, as EY is hiding behing the insurance policy and UAE Sharia laws......

CB, you're right. Fleet Chief operated the first flight but I beleive RH was on the flight with all the other dignatries. Not sure they would waste a 330 on the route at the moment!

Heard that the airport was closed for about 8 hours within the last couple of days due to a bomb that was attached to the bottom of a bus that managed to get though to the departure level, ya I can't wait to do this trip....Not

I fly into Baghdad three times a week. Flying in there is safe, but not sure how safe night stopping there is. We also fly into Erbil, and to be honest, I'd rather night stop there than in Baghdad.
Saw the black EY 320 there today... bet it was hot in there, 43 when we landed....

Agree on the night stop theory EBL is ok, but if we have problem in BGW crew hotac in handling agent compound which is within the "ring of steel" at the airport which they can still take pot shots at, and send another a/c in etc
