Its a new school.... they ordered 20 Diamond aircraft at the Dubai Air Show, good investors, good management team......

The skeptic in me would ask where are the customers going to come from

customers

That was one of the main issues at the now deceased DAE academy at RKT... no students.

If the KSA gov provides student loans however then this school may not have the same problem.

I know they visited the school in RKT for a look at the set up.

Wish them well...

If it's what I think it is, then it's a school being started up by prince Sultan bin Salman. He's currently the minister of tourism in Saudi Arabia. He's a former F-15 fighter pilot in the RSAF and first Arabian astronaut into space.

They're launching the Saudi Aviation Club in Thumama airport just outside of Riyadh. I believe he's also involved in some way with another flight school in Rabigh called Rabigh Wings.

Saudi Aviation Club

Off topic but if anyone here is into gliding then you'll like this. He's also a glider pilot.

SAFA Website

Hey Guys-

FYI, looks like the SAFA website is up, Saudi Aviation Flight Academy.

I couldn't find any info on when they will be commencing operations, but sent an email to [email protected] to find out.

Looks like an interesting program and nice facilities and equipment.

I wish them luck

From what I gather, the diamonds cant operate in the temp range due to the carbon skin... Not sure if they looked into that one

Diamonds had couple of engine failures flying in ME. After investigation Diamond team advised not to operate diamonds at high temperatures.

Odd, that one.
Sabena (now CAE Global) Flight Training here in Arizona (hot as RUH) operate about forty of these aircraft, and have for the last three + years.
No specific engine problems due to heat that I've heard about, and these airplanes fly a lot every day.
No special airframe issues, either....except students who run the airplane into other parked airplanes.

that's specific for single engines. A school in ME has put up its single diamond on sale after that issue. however twinstar has no such problems

hi

@mutt !! they do give education loans i mean the banks in ksa !! but still of no use the requirements of getting loan in ksa are really hard !!

Rabigh wings is owned by Prince Turki and i dont see its a proper flying school because when i went there all the students studying in there r from rich families and they r flying for fun !! the course cost is quite cheap its 120 000 USD :P !! and they got a office in Jeddah !! right opposite to KAIA !! and they conduct training in Rabigh which is like 150 KMs away from there office !!

Honestly !! i advice them to bring the price low and make it a proper flying school with a normal fee !! but as they r earning alot so they wont take my advice seriously lol !!

SAFA !! there is no contact details but i messaged them to give me a call because i wanted to ask them few info and the info i got is !! they dont have instuctor courses !! only they got PPL/IR/CPL for 75 000 USD !! nothing is included the accommodation or insurance !!

thats all i got uptill now !!

CHEAP???? For a CPL/ME/IR its ridiculous.....

PPL/IR/CPL for 75 000 USD
Read the small print as to the exact qualification they are offering, then compare it to the requirements of the national airline, do they match? If not how much more will you have to pay to get to that level?

i was kidding about saying 120 000 USD is cheap !! its dammmmmm alot !!

The qualification they r giving is not even at the average level of airline requirement !!

the thing is we got 2 flying school in ksa !! which arent worth to have flying training in there !! the cost is alot !! no good hours u can build with that huge amount !! its just i think they got it for ppl who wanna enjoy flying !! lol

besides becoming a pilot i think its better to become a flight dispatcher atleast u will have a good start like 6000 SAR and u can get the job easily not much of a problem !! Plus the course is also cheap !!

thats what i think !!
