From crewrosters.com:

Posted: 26-Oct-2009

We have just been advised by Mercator that the provision of roster information to Crew through CrewRosters.Com has been suspended by Ed Davidson. Please standby while we make further enquiries.

This sicko is ready for some heavy shrink job.
(Kind of reminds me of Danny Crane played fantastically by Bill Shatner).

Calm down boys - do you really think that Ed came up with this on his own while he was twiddling his thumbs?

I suggest that it is simply a directive that he is passing on - as is his duty...

Think of it this way - if EK decides to produce a portal based product of a similar fashion then you save 200 dits per year - hey.... that's like a pay rise!

Sorry Ken and Jerry - but it does take a little long for your stuff to come out post roster publication...

Dunno, but I can see a conflict if a pilot doesnt show up for work and it turned out to be a typo from an external rostering company... just guessing

At least at one point Denny Crane was the best in his field. Is that what people are saying about Ed?

Biff & payscale, why would ek spend money updating the current system? So we would end up with people creating their own calendar reminders, etc which would increase the chance of a roster mix up compared to crewrosters with a straight data transfer.

Fortunately, it looks like there may be a solution for us subscribers after checking the website again this morning

Follow the money

or ..... J & K were not paying enough to access the EK data.

Suggestion: Negotiate a price for access, work out an acceptable margin, and pass on the price increase to the subscribers.

When people say it isn't about the money, it's the principle ...

It's the money.

It's quite possible that the decision didn't come from Ed himself.

This however is irrelevant.

As our 'boss' he should have the decency/professionalism and basic managerial man-management skills to convey this information to the guys working for him, knowing full well that many will be 'out of pocket' because of this decision.

He appears and indeed has demonstrated on numerous occasions, his utter contempt for the pilot body (even down to the little things like not bothering to introduce himself/shake hands at the Commanders meetings earlier this year, despite AS and MM doing it).

I for one will be drinking to his departure!

Just out of curiosity, where is Mr. ED going? Not that it will be any great loss to the EK folks.

Begs the question; did he retire or was he 'forced to retire'?
