Reduced rest post EK ULR Ops
short flights long nights
Judging by the mess at the paper drop off counter this morning they will need several clerks back soon. Not to much sorting going on it seems....just a lot of dropping!!!

I did the paperwork thingy the other day; I just had to put the VR, fuel receipts, and the OFPs into their respective boxes. I didn't know what to do with the printed ATIS, and weather/notams ones.
It would be a good idea if the weather freaks stopped printing the weather from every possible ****hole along a sixteen hour route as well. Less paper to stash away on the way back to Dubai.
Remember, the book says you only have to "monitor" the weather at significant airports, when they are forecast to be below minima at the time you would be likely to use them. It is somewhere in the FOM, unless I am missing something.

And Ladies and Gents, to return to the thread...........
Is it the case that the previously ruled requirement for 48hrs off downroute for flights over 16 hours has been dropped from the latest FCI?
The way it reads now, the downroute rest is in accordance with the specific rest plan, no longer any mention of having to have a minimum 48 hours off. These specific rest plans are of course changeable to suit the company's requirements. Time to order in a another new pad of blank ASR forms...............

Wasn't the 48 hrs off downroute as a result of ASR's and never a part of the ops plan.
About the paper, I throw the acars wx/atis in the trash bag as well as the extra CFP, no requirment to keep that stuff, will help the with the weight of the FO's bag after an AKL.

The 48 hrs off down route was (arguably) as a result of the cascade of ASRs written mainly in relation to the awful early Houston flights, with the original 24hr layover.
The 48hr layover for all flights over 16 hours was made SOP in FCI 2008-57, which has since been replaced by FCI 2009-11. Well guess what, the reference to 48 hrs off has now been removed in this latest FCI..............
