Dear Mutt
Do you think they will recruit direct entry CAP's and FO's for their own A330's they will get soon ,or they gonna upgrade in house?
I guess Now they are using 2 A330 from Atlasjet(painted w/ Saudi Livery) with their Atlas contract pilots.

Mutt,
Did you say the A330 flying will be "inhouse" soon? So, Saudia pilots who were flying the 743s and 742s will go to the A330? Are most of the MD90 pilots going to the A320 now? Who flies the E170s? Do pilots like flying those? Why would someone chose the E170 over the A320 or something bigger? Is the pay the same? How are the E170s doing out there? Where do newhire pilots usually go airplane wise? Who goes right into the E170? Sorry about all of the questions. Does Saudia own NAS, or are they just a competitor? Any Saudia pilots going over to NAS? Thanks a lot.

Duke, hope this helps, in sequence:
Yes.
Yes.
Yes.
All saudi FO's - 10% expat Captains.
Yes.
No hiring onto the 170 now.
Pay is about 3 - 6% less than 320 for new hire.
Fine.
Pilots go to the fleet they were specifically hired for, depending on requirements and experience.
Direct hire Saudi FO's.
No problem.
No and yes.

I should clarify....
For the pilots it is a very nice automated machine.
BUT...
The schedules are not nice, with the heat and turbulence in the region it is like flying a paint shaker.

In 1980, interview in London.
Hired on the spot for the L1011 LHS.
The L10 fleet manager at the time was Capt Ahmed Sias...he made the decisions, not the HR department.

Still waiting...
Hello all,
Thanks to 411A and the Metro. After the screen in CAI was told to prepare for Jeddah Med, Sim etc., still waiting, This is for the Corporate side on the Falcon 7, I applied for the 742/3,
In any case has anyone heard re: CFS what the standard hiring protocol may be.
Thanks again...Sushi

Thanks Mutt,
Actually my understanding at the CAI event was I was successful at the SFS screening and next step was to be Jed for med/sim. However, i would give your slant more credibility than Belal's as now 5 mo. down the line and no contact.
Incidently, I still dont know why I wasn't offerred the 74 classic...

Mutt,
How many 773s did SV order ? are they "ER" variants ?
Are all the 330 ordered dash 300s ? and how many toto ?
The two Atlasjet A330-200s, are they planned to stay for a while? or leaving the fleet ?
Thanks

Thanks for the information Metro301
I have seen SV operate A320 into Frankfurt the other day. Are they scheduled regular flights ? is the A320 capable of JED-FRA with full load ?

alldaysushi - all applications to SFS are currently being handled by a recently hired expat pilot who is reviewing eligible candidates. Expect to hear from him directly.
Whether that's good or not - I dunno. Wait + see.

Thank you Mutt.
Atlasjet has an A332 available for lease and is advertised on Flight International this past week.
Is the 332 lease coming to an end with the deliveries of the new A333s ?

Mutt, after reading this thread from front to back a couple of times, i reckon the Establishment, and the new hires, ought to seek you out, and in the case of the former, give you a commision, the latter, mega beers. Prolly happens anyway.
Now, if only Saudi had my country on their list i could apply.
cheers mate

What's going on?
I applied to the mainline 9 months ago.
6 months ago I got an email to send in the papers - very urgently.
I've logged over 12000 hours, all sizes, but most on widebody, and over 3000 in Command. So I reckon I should qualify at least for a cat. B Captain.
What they sent was an invitation for an assessment for First Officer G IV or 7X, which is SFS - again very urgently and on short notice, almost impossible to organize.
You don't seem to get jobs on mainlines anymore these days, only with subsidiaries.
Strange. Makes me sad.
