QR housing and benefit package

Yes yes I know, the place is dusty, its hot, you get treated like dirt.

So how far does the housing money ACTUALLY go?
How many days off a month do you get on 330/340/777 ?
How does the place compare to England on a cold dank January morning?

Please please, some honest answers, and can the usual suspects moan somewhere else? I'm after factual (not opinion based) information i.e. what the reality is...and not why you got goat f**ked

330,340,777

Housing money for F/O 3000 $ /month will be taken from youre total salary and you will get 3 bedroom apartment. As Capt 3600 $ will be taken from youre total income for 3-4 bedroom house .
If you compare Qatar to England its more less the same place is full of Indians and Arabs and as usual English people are management. You can speak hindi ,arabic or english . London = Doha same same my friend .
All restaurants and caffee shops are closed during day at the moment in Doha utill night .
Days off A320 not alowed to request off .
A330 up to 4 days in roster
A340 up to 7 days in roster
777 up to 4 days

If you travel to UK most of time you will travel ID90 % means you get a seat if there is space and LHR ,LGW is always full as Qatari people like to travel there and connecting pax from India are going home (passport home)

Whats wrong ? You fail in EK and EY already ?

F/O 3-4 bedrooms apartment
CAPT 4 bedrooms villa

If you choose to live in the compound then your housing allowance will be taken away. I hate to say these, but most things that you have heard about Qatar are true. It's not a very nice city to work or live. As for your wife, it might be a bit difficult to find job here in Doha. School also have limited sapce for new kids. (Good school)

Goodluck

wifes job

Some of wifes got a job in school as assistant and salary is about 400$ . You sure you want her to work in Doha ? That means 99% that youre leave and her leave will not match !
EY - not intrested ? Well you will meet a lot of QR pilots who just passed intervew with EY coz they are intrested wandering why ? come and see.

QA sucks.

As you know. The town is dusty.
The kids will get breathing problem.
You wife might get a job however you will go to nice destinations and only spend 10-12 days I Doha.
After a while she will hate Doha, Qatar, You, all the Indian and in 90% of the cases she will move back home.
She will leave you in Doha and you can’t blame her.
Sorry mate. That’s the future if you join dusty QA.

Regards

Forza :
To make it short:For a new joining F/O:
Monthly salary around ..10.000.. U$/month( including house allowance and flying allowance ..70..h).
Substract 2800U$/month if you take the company accomodation.

Think twice before coming here excpecially if you have family and kids!!

(as spirit1 mentioned)

Its funny that some of you mention Doha being closed until evening time. You failed to mention that this is due to the month of Ramadan and you also failed to mention or realize that its exactly the same here in Dubai, AUH, Bahrain, Kuwait and i'm sure Saudi Arabia. Every year for one month.

Would any of you "old timers" at QR have any input on what to expect from a pending interview session I have on the books for the end of this month? I don't have a clue what to expect in the way of testing or preparedness for the event (other than the obvious).

I have followed along in the forums. Despite the useful banter, I still feel that I am NOT clutching at straws by applying myself, and I'm willing to give this a go.

Any help would be very useful,

cheers

Hi EPR SET, my wife couldn't get, wouldn't do, any extra work, lazy tart. But my Philippina housemaid found extra work as a hooker no problem (only funny for a few moments )

Dont worry about the interviews...Its a standard interview process of two days.

Technical questions
Psychomotorical testing
interview with some TREs

If all goes well simride in 320 or 330....emphasis on CRM

This is now, whole process is about to change soon.

In general....come with an open and realistic mindset. Doha can be a difficult place to live but can be peacefull for families.

Dont believe in fairytales

Upgrades take at least 6 years ( there are 500+ FOS ahead of you)
Fleet transfers take a minimum of 2 years
There will be NO bases outside Doha for the nearby future!
You will be worked hard!

In general:

EK offers the best overall package, followed by all the others! It does not matter which company you join...after a while you will know you have sold your soul..

Good luck!

Thanks P Clostermann,

I don't mind the work, I've lived in some challenging places before, and with my current job about to go away, I need to get on it.

My impression (not taking all the rhetoric into consideration) is really of a place where it's good to just show up, do your job, go home and have a cold beer and not get too involved or wrapped up in how it should or could be different, yes?

Just want to put my best foot forward...

thanks again

My thoughts exactly...

If thats your mentatlity, you will do just fine here. Do your job, lay low, do not create any waves and you will have a good time here.

I can even say more...people who do this often get all they want. Fleet transfers, ratings, nice shedules etc. Try too hard and this company will bite your a*! with avengence!

Regarding the changing interview process. Not too many details known yet, but it will become a lot more difficult. More to be compared with the EK and CX recruitment process.
But hey, this will not be active untill end october I would say.

Regarding Qatar....for most people it becomes a love-hate relationship. Its a sinusoide with a three month frequency of ups and downs. You will like it, get bored, go take a breath of fresh air somewhere far away, come back after two weeks and be happy again....

It defenitely is NOT a place for bachelors, as there is absolutely nothing to do for them. For families and friend-orientated people it can be very good. BBQs, boat trips, desert trips etc, all overloaded with alcohol if thats your thing!

Its what you make of it yourself...
