There is a massive rumor that the system get's manipulated manually but I'm not getting mix up in that argument.
Does your roster say "P" on any of the days?

I have been here with FlyDubai for a bit and after reading your post and response to another colleague regarding training, id like to provide you with more input about it. The company overall has its pros and cons like every airline does and the people on the line are generally all very cool and fun to fly with. However, training lately with CAE has been disgraceful. The three guys that were mentioned in the post that resigned earlier this summer in training were actually quite sharp and experienced. I had a chance to meet them during their training through another mutual friend. The instructor who gave them a hard time during training is the head of training at CAE and honestly he is a @ss for sure. He has failed many other pilots here at FZ during recurrent and two of these pilots filed a complaint against him with FZ and CAE corporate as he made racist remarks to them in the training which of course nobody accepts and used abusive language and created a hostile environment with them three. I am not surprised by that as i said I know few other FZ pilots who went through recurrent with him and they had the same experience. I just dont know why he is still instructing our pilots as he is a disgrace. The three pilots resigned were all from USA surprisingly and they each had 4k-5k total time with multiple type ratings each and were flying for US airlines back in the US, in fact one of them was already typed on the 737. So it is a total shame that we lost quality pilots because losing 3-4 pilots in a week for the same reason indicates a flaw in the CAE training program. Like my colleague above said, the instructor and the head of CAE there are all idiots apart from maybe few. There there just to get paid and check the box for you to show up to the training session. And honestly, they clearly make it clear to you that we are not here to spoonfeed or teach, just read the manuals and we can only guide you. So yes for someone who is not used to that, they will not like it here. So my best advice if you do come, just make sure you read the manuals and do everything by the book so nobody can point you out. And if you have that racist instructor from CAE, and you will know who he is as he is quite famous here for that, just do as he says and dont argue with him cause if you do he will make sure you wont go forward and will make it personal grudge against you, and find a reason to fail you out, like he did with pilots earlier this summer. Other than that the company itself is super nice and our CP is wonderful, its just i wish that soon they will have their in house training rather than relying on those idiots at CAE.

Wouldn't mind as much info about assessments etc myself.... (quoting gta flyer above^^)

Surely, if the CAE instructor has repeated allegations made....they will smell a rat?! It is a shame it isn't done in house....I havent dealt with CAE (only ever FSI), however, I have a VERY good friend there on a different aircraft/program and he is super efficient...and well connected (top notch ex Cathay sort).

FZ seem to be losing and recruiting a lot, with the new aircraft always arriving and on the verge of more routes and some kind of hook up with EK....beyond the shared ownership/loyalty program....and I they recently binned a number of assessment days in IST, as there simply weren't enough candidates!! Says to me that they need pilots, cant get enough and good guys being washed out by ***holes, is seriously detrimental to their larger plans!!

Time to command

Been reading this forum and have heard difffering views, my question is if someone were to join as an FO say in December, with the seniority as it stands, how long before before they could be considered for command ?

If you tick the right required boxes I'd say about 2 years. It can be around 18 months but currently the 'holding pool' for command is 4 months. It's down to you (50%) and 50% luck with who your examiners are. Upgrades are not based on seniority. Purely hours and simulator markers. Them markers are the ones unnessecarily stopping a lot of good guys.

The pool might get shorter once the new aircraft come in. Six more (all max 8) deliveries before years end, if these aircraft ever leave Amman that is. I think 10 or 12 aircraft coming next year with I'm guessing 3 or 4 retirements.
Current upgrade numbers are apparently enough to stop the Captains attrition rate, not the expansion. They aim to upgrade 6 FO's per month but realistically that number looks like 4 p/mnth that make it. And they still take DEC's.

Is the 1000 hour multi crew a hard limit for non type rated FO? Would I get a look in with 500hrs Saab FO (3500 hours total time, 3000 command, 500 hours multi turbine command)?

Yes the 1000 is firm, you would have to do the second officer course, which would mean a 5 year bond non reducing, rather than the 3 year reducing bond

Hey,

I have rather a unique situation here, I am going for my assessment in Dubai later this month and have a question regarding the pre-employment medical with Flydubai.

I currently have a BMI of 34.3 which according to the flawed BMI method I am class 1 obese. I workout (carry muscle) and have a husky built so I have always been on the heavy side of the scale but very healthy (just did a full physical with blood work and all and my numbers were all at or near optimal according to my physician)... Has anyone had this type of experience with the pre-employment medical? what do they do? Cheers

Hi everybody,

I have a little over 500hrs on the B737 and a total of a little over 700.
Due to some minor medical reasons I lost my medical, but I have current medical again since last month. My last flight was about 2 years ago.

Do you think I could still enter as Direct entry FO, or will you go to a second officer function?

Any guys who are currently with flyDubai on this forum? If yes, does anybody know if it is possible to join Emirates if you are still in the bond with flyDubai?

I believe the answer to that one is no. Gentlemans agreement.

PilotD12,

If you follow a little bit what is going on here in the UAE , you should know that Emirates and Flydubai are working more and more together.
So I doubt that it will be allowed to move from one to another before the end of your bond and maybe even after...
This is a new situation for us.
Before it was possible to go from Flydubai to Emirates when your bond was expired but NOW who knows ?

Thanks guys for quick reply, thats exactly what I understood of a friend who got the answer on his application for Emirates to apply again after his 3 years bond. While I was told by some of our FZ colleagues that they know people who are accepted by Emirates within their bond so it probably has changed from the moment we are working more together..

I am asking because I was interested to make the same movement since we have our age limit in FZ for the upgrade which makes me wait for another two years to apply..

See you guys around

PilotD12,

It would have been the same in EK , they also have an age limit for the upgrade and if I remember properly it is higher than in FZ...
